You will go to Underdark eventually if you accept Seamon's offer.

If you don'T accept Seamon's offer, you WILL lose some bonus items+places+quests. If you accept, you get all the bonuses plus normal route. (Underdark)

So don'T worry, accept his offer if you wish for some addition to your game.

Nope. One part of the Silver Sword comes from going with Saemon. I suppose, if you aren't averse to CLUAing things, you could CLUA the missing piece into someone's inventory. :holy:

You don't have to go with Saemon to get to the Underdark. There is a portal in Spellhold you can use with Jon's key. You'll miss out on nice XP and a few sweet items, but if you don't want them, it's okay.

You lose nothing by accepting his offer, if nothing, you will go to a new/unique/cool place with cool stuff. It is as if a new chapter is added to your game time. It is cool I think. :thumb: Go for it!

Yeah, nevermind that he turned you over to Bodhi's gang and will more than likely betray you again and again!

Probably my biggest complaint with BG2 is the way you get rewarded for making the stupidest decisions possible.

Well, you can´t put off going to the Underdark, if you´re already in Spellhold. It´s a crucial and unavoidable part of the storyline. You have to go there. It´s your choice if you take the portal under Spellhold or go with Saemon. But either way, you WILL eventually end up in the Underdark, whether you like it or not.

Once you've gone to the Underdark and done the Ust Natha bit, Sola will dimension door to you outside the city gates. He'll talk and ask to join. You can accept him then and there or have him wait until later. If you have him wait, he'll be north of the elven general's tent in the exit from the Underdark area.

    You can't avoid the Underdark.

Not so much acting stupid as being a pawn. Whether willing or not, knowing or not, you're supposed to be a pawn of the gods' machinations. But did they really have to stick to that theme throughout the game? My character is more than smart enough to know that Xzar is up to something, but you have to play the part of the unwitting dupe (by both sides, even) to get anything out of it. You really ought to get some smaller amount of experience for realizing what everyone was up to and just walk away.
    ......................................................................
After you do stuff in the Sahuagin City (or not, if you choose) you get a magical rope. Way down in the lower right corner of the map (you have to go to the upper right corner first to get there) there's a hole leading down to the Underdark, right where you normally would have showed up. Unless you've an RP reason for not going with Saemon (not that hard to think of, really ;) ) you should always go there because it doesn't cost you anything.
    ......................................................................
I'm assuming that's provided you didn't kill him for Phaere. ;)

^Yes you have to complete main Ust-Natha quest in the best way to take him.

NPC levels are based upon either your PC's or your party's XP upon first meeting them. There are several different creature files for each NPCs, each with different XPs and levels. Game will create the NPC as close as to your party XP wise, however there is a limit. If you are too high on levels, NPC will be created in its highest level available; but it can still be lower than yours if you are already epic.

Really. On a semi-on-topic note, my favourite quests of the game would have to be those in Ust Natha, simply because you get to sucker-punch someone for a change.

And even in Ust Natha there's the whole "get bent over by Jarlaxle" thing. And you get rewarded for it. Grrr.

(I always, ALWAYS kill Saemon on the boat during the Gith raid. To hell with the stupid chapter summary, he's DEAD and I'm HAPPY.)

I justify going with Saemon like this. I give the man one last chance because he says he's been duped by Irenicus just like me so I'll give him a little sympathy and benefit of the doubt (If good), Or I plan on backstabbing the little bastard just as soon as we are in friendly waters and I'm done using him (If Evil), Then when he betrays me again I go ahead and give him what he deserves. An Untimely death. Killing Githyanki is nice. Killing Saemon is better.

It makes me happy and dumps me in the cheesy land of all evil fish. Which you can RP'ly explain any number of actions lots of ways depending on your alignment. My favorite tends to be First that we need to dispose of a tyrant of a ruler followed by the destruction of an evil race causing havoc in the sword coast.

Though I do also enjoy Helping the Tyranical fish in power to rid himself of the problem then rid myself of the Tyranical ruler that probably plans to double cross me on the way out of town to throw the city into further disarray and make my escape.

Though I will admit all of this comes about because years of table top have taught me. Don't charge into the magical portal after the uber powerful mage that is running everything.

    *rewrites Chapter 5's intro*

"As Saemon Havarian's giblets bounce around the ship's deck, you feel a profound sense of satisfaction. He may have gotten the better of you two or three times, but now he's just a thick red mist."

ROFL. Doesn't ToB have a thing where you go "Aren't you dead?" with him?

I would like a dialogue option questioning Saemon's offer simply from the fact that he claims he'll take me, by ship, to an inland elven tree city... And then he (or rather the game interlude) has the ship making good headway towards Athkatla for several days, only to somehow end up far south of Brynnlaw when the fishies strike.

Even though I nearly always accepts Saemmy's offer, I do try my best to send him a Finger of Death before he has time to evacuate. Pirate scum must die.

Well yes I always stick a Flesh to Stone under his a**, he ends up being petrified and then the ship sinks and his heavy statue is lost in the depths of the sea.

Yet somehow he manages to come back in ToB! :toofar:

There was a mod which made him stay dead forever; if you kill him in SoA, he won'T come back in ToB, I guess I didn't install it as I wanted to kill him the second time! Was it possible to kill him the second time in ToB? Oh don't tell me I will find out myself! Hehee! This time I will disintegrate him, for good. I don'T think he will ever be able to come back without a divine intervention this time!

I've killed Saemon plenty of times on the boat and he never came back in ToB. I still feel Biff the Understudy should've gotten the part instead of some unknown monk.
