Just downloaded the Sarelith mod and attempted to install it.

When I opened the exe file, I got the following message:

    Unable to find Dialog.tlk in:
    Dialog.tlk

Please run this program in your infinity engine directly.

FATAL ERROR: Failure ("Unable to find DIALOG.TLK")

    Press ENTER to exit.

    WTF?

Stick it in your BG folder.

Um, he's a Mod Reviewer. I would hope he knows how to deal with installing a WeiDU mod.

Now, while the Saerileth forum, as well as others, have been closed down because nethrin & Sillara are done modding, questions can still be addressed regarding their mods at the new N & S's mods forum. If you've a problem with the installer, I'm betting nethrin can fix it for you.

-I had the exact same problem with another mod. It's user error. Now, you probably have the folder in the main BGII directory but you need to take the files in the folder and put *them* in the main directory.

Example(I know it's not complicated thing, but I like to avoid confusion):

    Main directory:
    C:bad:Programfiles\Baldurs Gate II

    Mod directory:
    C:bad:Programfiles\Baldurs Gate II\*MOD*

-This would be wrong, the mod .exe will only search the contents of it's own folder and so cannot find dialog.tlk. Transport the mod .exe and any other files that came with the mod and put them directly into the game directory, as such:

    Game directory:
    C:bad:Programfiles\Baldurs Gate II

    Mod Directory:
    C:programfiles\Baldurs Gate II

-WinRar will by default add a folder, even if it doesn't look like it. Either drag and drop from the WinRar tool into the main directory or cut/paste from the mod folder.

^ Yes, it's surprising the % of mods that still don't install their setup-xxx.exe and xxx.tp2 files into the base installation directory ... or try to and fail because of a badly written .bat.

To clarify, there is actually supposed to be a mod folder with all the files in it, and putting them all in the base folder would screw things up. There are exactly 2 files that need to be in the base folder: the EXE and TP2 that Luiz mentioned.

Thanks - Tart's suggestion is where I went wrong. It worked with that correction. All I have to add about the mod though, is WTF? Fresh out of Irenicus' dungeon I pick up Sarelith and in the next area a paladin comes up and asks us to go slay a dragon. Keep in mind we just left Irencus' dungeon. So I figured it must be a little dragon, or something that people thought was a dragon but was something else.

No dice. It's an actual full grown dragon - a purple one to be precise. Dragon fighting isn't fun when most of the party is level 7 or 8 (Sarelith came in at level 10, and she's the highest). Add to that most of us are using +1 weapons. I'm considering re-starting the game and doing a few quests BEFORE I pick up Sarelith, just to get a few better weapons and a few more levels.
