Scar is missing

I can't find Scar to go to Candlekeep. I did Dulang's tower instead. Is it a timer? Also I can't go upstairs in the flaming fist. I don't have any prior saves. What do I do?

 

There shouldn't be a timer. As far as i remember, after you've dealt with the seven suns problem and(potentially) the ogre in the sewers, once you talk to scar he will move from inside the building to the outside - he will be standing right in front of the flaming fist building to ask you to come meet the duke (who will give you the book you need to enter candlekeep.)

 

I don't know what causes it, but I've had it happen several playthroughs that Scar is not appearing, either after the Seven Sun stint, or after that to talk to the duke. Occasionally he may also not appear at all after the talk on the bridge.

This is with BGTutu and the G3 fixpack, though, so I don't know if this has any relation with the EE behaviour.

 

Scar should be somewhere, there are safeguards in place that prevent him from not spawning for whatever reason. And no, there's no timer, he will always be either in the HQ or outside of it when the appropriate quest global requires him to be. He might stray somewhat if he detects enemies and decides to fight them.

If he's not anywhere, do a C:GetGlobal("ScarMission","GLOBAL") and tell me what the value is.

 

I can't get the cheats working. I tried the debug mode but it doesn't work/can't get command prompt. Could someone walk me though it? Thanks.

 

Can also confirm this is a rare bug that happens on (at least) Tutu.

 

1. Go to CUsers\<yourname>\Documents\Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition\.
2. Open Baldur.ini with a text editor what won't mess up your file (e.g. Notepad++).
3. Add a new line around the 'Program Options' settings by copying the line above it and change the second value to 'Debug Mode' and third value to '1'.
4. Save the file.
5. Open console with Ctrl+Space and use the command I wrote in my previous post.

That's odd. I've never had any issues with him appearing, nor should there be any in EE as long as his quest state is appropriate.

 

Same here, i've played the enhanced edition a bunch of times now and never has scar failed to appear for me either, though i've yet to complete a game with the latest patch version. (2.00)

 

Time of day doesn't matter either. There are only 3 conditions for his spawns: He can't have died, he can't already be on the map, and his quest state has to be correct.

In case he spawned on the map, but you just can't find him for whatever reason, you can try something like C:Eval("ActionOverride(\"Scar\",JumpToObject(Player1))").

If he hasn't spawned (and you're sure that he should have), a standard C:CreateCreature("Scar") should do fine.
