This could go in any game forum but this is one of the more popular so...

What characters did you find to be disturbing and scary in the mysterious and cryptical sense or otherwise? this doesnt have to be one of the evil characters just... well whatever you want goes.

I thought that the character in IWDII that spooked me the most was Yxunomei, who you see at first as the odd little girl with that unnatural voice, who turned out to be a Demon was a classic in the fear factor sense, probably to do with the fact that it mentions something about an evil force or something like that, (Idon't have IWDII itself just the Neverending Journeys mod for BGII that put you through some parts of the game) the fact that it must take an incredibly powerful person to intimidate the army she has into working for her, the way she just shows up out of nowhere and speaks cryptical warnings at you, I thought all this added up to something about 1000k times dangerous then an odd little girl.

Edit: Sorry Tal I forgot about the playground as I never go to it, but I'll try remember for next time.

Red Shroud. Always something about the mother-in-law :D .

Irenicus is sort of imposing whenever you first play through BG2. Personally, I thought that Crystal Golems were a real pain when I first encountered them in IWD2.

[IMG] Neeber was scarier than Noober. When meeting Neeber in BG2 I realized what was coming, yet I couldn't stop him. It was a horrible feeling, I tell you! :p :D

Other than that, I'd say the 'armored figure'/'sarevok' from BG1. That's one scary dude.

hmmm.. I'll have to say the Greater Feyrs from Eye of the Beholder 3 or Dungeon Hack (old D&D gaems). They blink in and out of invisibility and they always catch me from behind or around a corner amid those first person mazes. It's like suddenly being attacked out of nowhere, and cause you frantically scout the four directions around you for the culprit... then you find yourself staring into the maw of this gross monster, taking 20-40 damage per round and its too late to run.

Well, first time I played BG2 and didn´t know Firkraag was a dragon until it was to late I got alittle "surprised" to say the least. No buffs or anything and I fought as if there was no "load" button. Well, in my mind there was no such button then. My mind was totally in the game since I had played all the way there in one run. I´d guess I had been in front of my computer atleast 30 hours then. My dad saw the "While your characters dont need to eat, remember that YOU do. We dont want to loose any dedicated players" and dragged me out of there after I got killed by Firkraag. It´s surprising how involved you can get in a game.

So this is my scariest moment because of all the things from forgetting to eat and sleep plus the fact that I realized that there were dragons in BG2(!).

    LOL Duke :)

Anyway personally I always use fists to Knock Noober or Neeber out or force talk them till they reach the end in a few seconds.

Of course when I play evil I either take them for a walk in the woods or give them a new home with the fish

    The Tanar'ri in BG1...

After that creepy Durlag's Tower you have to fight the demon and his cult... A Tanar'ri is not an ordinary and easy foe for 8-level characters, you know.

Scariest bit in BG1: charging into the temple after Sarevok without the least bit of preparation, figuring it'll be him against the six of us, and then Sarevok AND Tazok AND Angelo AND Semaj jumping on me. Dead in five seconds and half of that was trying to run off.

Scariest character in BG2: when you first fight Irenicus in the Asylum. I didn't think I'd actually get to fight him then (I thought the fight would be at the end of the game) and so I wasn't the least big prepared. One minute later: the whole party dead and Irenicus with a depressing "uninjured" status floating above him.

I agree Yxunomei in IWD1 was a scary fight. The bit where she says "I am Yxunomei. I am a soldier." and then transforms from the harmless little girl into the Maralith really threw me.

Scary bits in Throne of Bhaal: opening the final seal in Watcher's Keep and having the Beholder hive mother, the Maralith and all the others pop up around me. And the big fight at the end of Ascension when you face all the Five. Seeing all of them arrayed against me and considering all the hassles I had killing them individually was a worrying moment.
