Are there any mods to download that increase the amount of wizard spells in the game without unbalancing it.?

As my mage is capable of casting level 7 spells yet i have found no mage scrolls above level 4 i want the game to be difficult and balanced yet i dont want my wizard so far behind my sorcerer (who has level 7 spells from leveling up)

And i need the wizards skill points to cover the those my old (now deleted) rogue had as well as all the magic skills like Knowledge Arcana(not so useful but saves identify spells).

I have looked at the Weidu mods yet the only one that comes close to adding more scrolls is the random loot mod yet i hate when loot is random. And it isnt guaranteed to help any way it may hinder.

So any help?

 

I'm pretty sure there are high level spell scrolls fairly early in the game. Doesn't the boss' wife in the start village (sorry, I've forgotten all their names )sell some?

Unless you're soloing, of course, in which case you might hit casting level 7 before there are level 7 spell scrolls available.

 

Generally you will probably suffer scroll overflow than shortage. How big is your gang?

 

I have 6 people in my party and am at level 14 in the ice temple. I have looked at the list of scroll locations already before i posted and it doesnt show any level 7 spells till some Chult thing which is in either chapter 5 or 6 it doesnt say yet i am still in chapter 2 doing the battle squares. And the only other place it sayys with a chance is the battle squares and so far i havnt gotten any mage spells there.

BTW the bosses wife at the start(i cant remember her name either) only has spells up to level 3 and i bought every one i am filled from levels 1-3 just nothing much in 4 and nothing any higher.

 

Bwoah, at Ice Temple - level 14? I guess I was like level 10 at most! Did you download the double xp at insane difficulty patch? It seems like you'd have to cheat some scrolls in or stick with the spells you have now / will find...

 

I think Goon66 was talking about going through in HOF mode. I know I was level 20-22 in HOF mode at that point.

 

If he's in HOF mod, then surely he's already finished the game in normal mode so he'd have all the spells he needed.

Unless of course he started in HOF with a 1st level party.

 

I think he did change a number of party members. He asked plenty of questions on this board about new characters, and whether they could work in HOF.

On a secondary note: How bizarre is it i'm answering questions on behalf of someone else. I'm sure Goon66 will be able to answer these questions much better than me.

Anyway i am playing through on normal mode however since i have played through pretty much every games by Black Isle(except the expansion IWD1) i tried starting in HoF mode thinking i was good enough but when i found it way too hard(i had the skill to learn how to keep my guys alive using my spells without walkthroughs my characters just werent strong enough). I exported/imported my characters into a game on normal(insane difficulty). And that is what i am in now. Also due to the fact that with a few levels up i dont get any XP from killing guys i have been doing a lot of level squating to maximise the little i get.

With my new characters i gave them the XP of the characters they replaced as thoguh i dont like to cheat i dont really see it as cheating as they only got how much they would have if i started off with them in my party. And with the little XP i get even with my party level brought down they would never catch up as my other characters were very high levels for the stage in the game they are at.

Also i really dont want to just plain cheat however mods are less cheating which is why i wanted one for this. But for you who have played the game through will i get all the spells in the game upon finishing the game on Normal mode?

BTW my wizard is a Drow so if i had any non ECL party members they would be on level 16 however i dont but my Aasimar are on level 15.

 

Don't justify yourself; everyone has the right to cheat. Your conscience is the only barrier in single-player games.

 

But if i start to cheat i will get out of control. Cheating everything

 

One thing about iwd2, the spells scrolls are not well placed throughout. That's why i prefer sorcerer than wizard in this game. Don't worry about not having level high enough spell scroll for your wizard. You might not see them now, but they will come, much later.

 

When you reach kuldahar, you will be able to get hold of a number of high level spells. If you are making your way through the wandering village bit, that might not help now, but you will get some.

 

I got a level 8 spell and two level 9 spells from the battle squares and all the scroll normally picked up seem to now be level 5 so i am ok.
