    A fiery politician passes. You can say what you want about the guy, he certainly had a way with words and stood up for what he believed in! I didn't always agree with the guy, but his death still saddens me.

    Yeah, LKD really said it all for me; I didn't necessarily agree with him - heck, I didn't really like him - but still, I regret his passing. At least he had a fairly full and long life...

    I'm reminded of a story a friend of mine once told me, who was a commander on a navy ship. One of his crew passed away, whom he did not know very well, but nevertheless he accompanied the body back home to where the sailor was to be buried. He attended the funeral, and as the preacher was speaking of what a "fine man and how well liked he was by everyone in the town," a little, elderly lady spoke up: "No, he wasn't. He was an SOB, and everyone in town knew he was, but get on with it anyway, pastor...."

    RIP, Mr. Helms.
