Set Trap problem....bug?

    I'm having a very weird problem that might be a bug in the game. The first time I played the game through this didn't happen but now I'm playing SoA for the second time and this pops up out of nowhere. To assist me in beating Firkragg I wanted to take advantage of Yoshimo's and my PC's set trap ability. However, any trap I set goes off automatically, even if Firkragg's not hostile. This of course makes him hostile right away and makes for a tough fight. I thought this was just a bug with him, but now the same thing has happened with the Shadow Dragon! For now I can find an alternate strategy but c'mon, I'm a thief! It seems like I can't use traps at all! Can anyone else shed some light on this? I haven't installed any new mods since the last time I played and I didn't have this problem.
