Severed Hand Astrolabe Problems

ok so i found the pieces of the astrolabe..and given them to larrels helper (the mage that grumbles about the machine being broke) and now neither larral or the mage will talk to me !!

help i dont want to have to restart my game

Try reloading.

Get the patch if you haven't already.

If you have found all the pieces of the astrolab and given them to that mage (or whatever) then there should be a cutscene right after that and that Larrel guy is restored. It might be a bug. Have you been using cheats? It's been quite some time but I can't think of anything else that there needed to be done there. Sorry.

 

tried reloading nothing have all the latest patches...still nothing..am i just going to have to import my characters and start over ??
used dale keeper for one piece of astrolabe..but could not remember what one i needed so just grabbed them all..and geve them to the assistant..hmmm now that you mention it i had already given three pieces to him and then when i used dale keeper i gave all four to him (three were given twice..) could this be the cause of my problem ?

You probably don't have all the pieces then for the astrolobe.

 

There are four pieces. The walk through in the iwd section can tell you where they are.

One is on the first floor, but you have to do down from the lift on the 3rd floor (lets you access the right side of the first 2 maps). I missed that one my first time through and got fairly frustrated till it was pointed out you could ride the lift

You get one in the north tower after fighting some stupid elfs. One is in the south tower after killing some loser elf clerics. And the last one is given to you by the elf chick in the east tower.

 

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh, man.

This one is a tough call. Someone posted a while back about having problems with larrel; the gem movie wasn't triggering.

Could be a bug. Could be a missing 4th piece. Like the Emperor said, it's most likely the one down on the east side of the first floor. You have to make it up the stairs to the third floor, walk to the east side of the central staircase, and use the lift. That takes you down to the 2nd floor, east side. Then you go down the central staircase to the first floor, and a HUGE battle.

All the other pieces are either with someone (2) or in a chest (1).

After that, when you speak to him he says "...just a moment while I gather my thoughts...what has just come to pass?"

If the apprentice just says "look at it...it's working perfectly", and Larrel won't talk to you, you'll probably *have* to reload.

 

i think it is not a bug or patch issue, i was able to finish the quest without any patch installed. but it did took me a lot of time finding the piece as described by palpatine. i almost tried using dale keeper but decided to give the tower another tour. luckily i found the last piece and there's a very nice crossbow to go with it.

 

It wouldn't surprise me that using DaleKeeper is what screwed up the game. There are similar problems with SK in BG2.

I am having the same problem. I have found all four astrolobe pieces. I gave them to the guy to fix the astrolobe and now whenever i try to talk to either of them they don't respond, i reloaded and it did the same thing. Then I used the cheats and he still wouldn't talk to me. Is it a bug?

 

If the apprentice says something like "Look at her! She's perfect!", then larrel is your focus now.
If *he's* not talking to you, then you have problems. Could be a bug, but it's a bug I've never had.
Sounds more like you have given the apprentice 3 pieces, or aren't talking to larrel.



Post what the apprentice and larrel are telling you.
