The fecker you killed had the key... You shoulda talked to him before running him through.

I understand that there's a back way in though...

That's one more vague post. What fecker did you kill. Where was this fecker. What did the fecker look like. Did the fecker have a name. What exactly is a fecker. I need more info to figure out what you mean here. Perhaps I can help.

I suppose the fecker is the main priest there, the one you need to talk to in the beginning to get the whole thing rolling. He also gives you the key to the lich chamber some of the other cultists are occupying. Though if you killed him, I suppose everyone should've turned on you.
The guy should drop the key upon his death so you could still unlock the lich chamber. But I'm pretty sure you need him alive in order to go through the whole quest. You can kill him at the end though, after you're done with Unseeing Eye.

Ah, well too late now. I suppose everyone has left or turned hostile by now if you killed the Eye. Although I have no idea how did you manage that if you hadn't spoken to the head priest OR the cultists. Only those two can lead you to the Eye.
Sounds to me like you've dropped the key somewhere.

I managed to meet the eye upstairs too. since I got a bit killed, I reloaded and the story went the regular way. (Halfways at least: 2nd time round, I met a second eye upstairs AFTER I did the first one down in the dungeon.)
