The twenty something customers she sprayed included children.... Waaa? Everyday, it seems I lose hope in humanity...

 

It would have been more effective if she had tased them.

 

I hope they find her, and she gets a whole lot less shopping options in the foreseeable future - either because she's in jail or she has to pay a lot. Either would be fitting.

Hurr hurr, great joke, Capt'n*. She was being "competitive". A little P.C. there, eh?

Competitive, my ass! She was using pepper spray on people (including kinds) who were no greater threat to her than endangering her ability to get more cheap Bratz dolls, Wii games or whatever other trash she wanted. Pepper spray is for self-defense only - just as, say, a thumb in the eye or a kick to the groin. In that situation, unless the article didn't mention someone trying to give her a faceful of elbow or the like, what she was doing was an unprovoked assault. And if they were (not too likely), she was doing something incredibly dumb and irresponsible. I'm starting to think some people need a 15-minutes introduction and orientation course when they buy a freaking pepper spray.

Good smurfing grief. Well, I imagine that's not the first time some stuff like that happened, what with people all but camping outside the malls when there would be huge discounts, but it's really an awful moment.

On a related note, this article mentions a few more details. Seriously, whistles signaling the uber-cheap sale in a packed shop sound like an accident waiting to happen.

*:wait, do firemen also follow a pseudo-military hierarchy, like cops? Is a Fire Captain someone with a specific rank in a hierarchy, or is it only how they are called?

 

Fire departments generally do have some nominal ranks, like Captain and Marshall (those guys who run around dressed like Khaddaffi ).

 

Wait... she turned herself in, but refused to say what for, so they let her go? That doesn't sound right.

To turn yourself in isn't an admission of guilt, just an acknowledgement that the cops were looking for you and wanted to talk to you.

 

She used pepper spray at people in a busy mall, got in the press, they were looking for her - why would they not be prepared to charge her? Does that also mean she won't be charged later?
