I'm playing a Cleric/Warpriest at lvl 11-12/2 (not exactly sure atm, I'm on my way to Ammon Jerro's Haven). The first and only time I played through the game, I went with drops and vendor equipment only. I thought I would try the crafting skills this time, and got an abundance of diffrent gems, essences and so forth. Did a quick search in the forum about enchanting, and found some useful tips, though nothing about the lower lvl gems like Malachite.

    My questions are
    * Where can I buy adamantine (and other special metals) ignots
    * What are the lower level gems for? Haven't found recipes that includes them.
    * Will Sand and Grobnar suffice as crafters, or is a divine caster needed too?

Thanks for any help, I haven't found a shop that sells special metals so far, probably because I haven't been looking for it ;)

You get a few ingots when you discover ore veins and tell your miners at your keep. There are various vendors who sell the metals; just check every one you come across. You should also check them for the expensive gems as well because the crafting gems are pretty rare. Either the armorer or weaponsmith you recruit to your keep will eventually have large quantities of all the metals you need.

Most of the less expensive gems are useful only for gold.

A divine caster is necessary for the Holy enchantments if you want them.

    Thanks for the quick reply!

Hm, I just took another feat with Zhaejve (spelling?) .. guess I'll have to wait a bit with the holy enchantments then. I just got the courtyard buildings done, so I guess that'll solve my problem.

If you want Amulets of Natural Armor only Elanee or the PC as a druid will suffice, as it requires the spell Barkskin.

Paps the Crafting Merchant in the Merchant's quarter has some high-end gems I.E. a Blue Diamond.

He is replaced by Randolph in Act III which has one of each high-end gem at least.

Sand and later the elemental merchant has at least a blue diamond and a jacinth usually.

Caelryna the drow merchant has a rogue stone or two usually.

If you build the monastery, Rolan should have some rogue stones.
