short sword of backstabbing or thieves guild?

    Can anyone confirm with me that if you are a thief, then you automatically get the thieves guild? I have a F/T and i wanted to get the short sword of backstabbing, as i did with my cavalier.....it seems to be a large disappointment if you dont even get the item thatll make you a killer

    It's one of those things in the game that makes no sense. If you are a theif, and do the Mae'Var quest, you get the guild, but you don't get the +3 weapon, which would be really useful for your theif that early in the game. You're right, it sucks, but you don't get the sword if you're a theif.

    A thief does not automatically receive the guild. You will be offered the guild upon completion of the quest but you don't have to accept it. If you don't accept it, you get the sword. Now, a fighter/thief can also get the fighter stronghold so if you want the sword you can refuse the thief stronghold and still take the fighter stronghold.
