So, here is what happened. ;)

I show up at work on Monday and my boss is in a closed door meeting with the head of HR. I go to my office and wait to see what is going to happen. I don't really know, but i"m sure it will be interesting.

It doesn't take long until my boss comes into my office and shuts the door behind him. It actually went quite well. He was determined not to lose me and we had a very nice conversation about me and my place at the firm and my future opportunities. Of course, figuring out what is truth and what isn't is always difficult in these meetings. After about an hour it comes to end and he informs me that he is going to track down the managing partner so I can discuss things with him.

About an hour later, I have an office full of staff as we are working on something when the managing partner shows up at my door. He is wearing bermuda shorts and a Carribean style shirt. It is quite the look, but I like it on him. The staff quickly scatter and I follow him into his office. Same as before we have a very nice conversation and at the end of it I am convinced to stay. I also got the money :D

So now, I'm back at my desk and I have to deal with the annoying headhunter. I'm sure she is going to be pissed as this is costing her a big payday. Since I don't really want to deal with her, I fire off an e-mail to her. It is very polite and thanks her for everything she has done.

Later on, I get an e-mail from her thanking me and letting me know if I ever need her she is there, etc. etc.

So, now I figure, I'm done. I can go back to my normal life.

Then I get home, and around 7pm the phone rings. It is the headhunter. I'm like WTF is going on. She tells me the new firm isn't quite ready to give up on me, as they really want me. She tells me they are offering a $10,000 signing bonus if I will change jobs. Now this is interesting. Trust me, I don't look anything like a professional athelete. I think about it briefly, and tell her "No thanks."

What it boils down to is that my mind and heart weren't really into changing jobs yet. The other times I have changed jobs in my carear were because I had to. Right now, I don't really have to. Things are going very well for me. Of course, Mrs. Snook still dreams about spending the $10,000..... ;)

Well, they can't get too angry as they always hope to place you at a later date. Disappointed is probably the correct emotion.
