I took my family to see Shrek 2 yesterday. It was worth every penny I paid and more. What a great flick. I even believe it's possible that it was better than the first. It also has an amazing cast which gives the movie even more kick. What do you guys think?

I took myself to see it yesterday and really enjoyed it. The animation was fantasic, as were all of the characters, both new and old.

IMO, Shrek 2 is definately better than the first.

I couldn't decide which of the two Shreks are better. But I sure did have a great laugh with both of them.

[IMG] I liked Shrek 2!!!! Puss in Boots stole the show!!!

Is it me, or did the Fairy God Mother look and sound a lot like Emma Thompson?

Actually the actress who did the voice for the fairy god mother is Jennifer Saunders. She is the woman with the brown curly hair in the crazy english sit-com "Absolutely Fabulous". http://hometown.aol.com/suicidethighs/page9.html

If you've seen her as an actress you might notice physical similarities to the character she plays on Shrek 2.

Before I get to the main body of what I want to say I will fisrt say that any of you who haven't seen it, DON'T LEAVE UNTIL AFTER THE FIRST LOT OF CREDITS. Any of you who have seen it but left as soon as the credits started, go see it again and follow that advice.

Yeah, I could pretty easily see Jennifer Saunders' face in that of the Fairy Godmother. I went today for the second time and saw it for the first time properly (any who've read my posts over in Whatnots on being dumped would understand that without explanation) and it really was a great film, though I much prefer the first one.

    SPOILERS...

It was fun picking up all the references to other films such as the LotR reference with the ring, the Spider-Man reference with the rope trap and mud mask, the Marilyn Monroe (Some Like It Hot?), Flashdance during Puss's performance at the end and the obvious Mask Of Zorro and Alien references when he first meets and attacks Shrek, Ghostbusters in the giant Gingerbread Man and E.T in his last words and From Here To Eternity's kissing-on-the-bech scene.

All in all, it was really fun stuff but I do prefer the original, though they both made be bawl like a baby at the end. :wail:

[IMG] The parodies and PUSS!!!!! in Boots stole it for me. As well as a certain scene where I thought of a line from Things to do in denver when you're dead in volving Godzilla and Japan, but I thought of something else and far far away :D .

Are we ready for Shrek 3 & 4?

I read last week that plans are already underway for two more Shrek with Shrek 4 (IIRC) being the story of how Shrek actually came to live in the swamp in the first place. BTW, I checked on IMDB.com and Shrek 3 is already in the storyboarding and writing stage.
