I'd go with the Bard. I run a simular party and the bard made a nice backup spellcaster to my Gnome. The bard gets the nerco spell you lose and can use any weapon. Plus the bard only magic items rock!

Hey, what's wrong with leaving it as is? No need to split up those XPs any further. I like it the way you've got it.

However, I should point out my disapproval of giving your thief/illusionist skill in short swords. This may be a role-playing decision on your part, and I can respect that. However, IWD is long on large swords that kick ass and very short on short swords that do much of anything. You can still backstab with a longsword, ya know.

My advice is to split up the multiclass. The mage is the person you want to advance as far as possible. I fyou play it the way you chose, you mage will not get to cast 7 level spells and maybe only one 6 level spell.

    You can dual class instead.

    However, it is your call.

    Cheers

  5. Hmmm...
Your party is almost identical to mine, except I have a Bard instead of a Ranger.

Your choices depend on what style of play you like.
You could add another Gnome Illusionist/Thief, another fighter, or a Bard, those are all good choices. If it was my party I'd go with a Bard. Then you will be able to pick pockets, identify almost anything by right clicking on it, have some bow firepower, and some extra spells.

I agree with the guy who said you don't really need another character. In fact, you could safely remove the Ranger, and have a very cool 4-man group that could easily finish the game.

With only 4 characters in the party, your multi-classed thief/mage would still get to high levels and cast the best mage spells.

But if you definately are against dumping anyone, I'd either go with the 5 you have now, or a bard if you seriously want a 6th character.
