Finally managed to make the time to go see it.

Now before we get all worked up over the "Kristen being called fairer than Charlize" thing, that didn't bother me. Kristen certainly isn't ugly, at least not imho. Sometimes such things are a matter of subjective taste. And I thought it was a credible casting, although admittedly not for everyone.

What bothered me somewhat was how her character was developed or portrayed. In one instant she's this paragon of sweetness and innocence who can talk a troll into leaving or who has the elder stag bow before her in reverance ... and then all of a sudden she's this kick-ass 'Ripley'fied warrior in plate armor ready to win the day. Like hitting the switch in an instant.

Was a bit much for me to swallow.

But yeah ... it was Charlize Theron who stole the show running away. And not just on account of her looks. You could tell she enjoyed herself in this one. I did like how her character was given a slightly sympathetic angle that explains, but doesn't excuse, her actions.

The characters were decent/good and the visuals were great, but the storyline branches too many times and the pacing is horrible imo. It's almost like the movie is trying to pull a John Carter. It ultimately fails to do so, but still. Would've been more enjoyable if it focused more on the main characters (besides Snow White), but there's extra scenes everywhere.
