Soccer/Football Official Admits Fixing Games

    It is a scandal but it is no big deal. One German ref rigged a few games in the German second league. It is kinda like if a game was fixed in a regional college championship in the US. I cant see how it can have any measurable effect on the WC or even the German Bundesliga in the long run. Stuff like this happens in Italy all the time. I am not saying it isnt a problem when it happens but I do not think it will have any effect on the game of football.

    It doesn't happen in the upper echelons of the sport, only in the... less policed, let's say; lower leagues.

    It's not just in the lower leagues, the Italian Seria A also had it's fair share of scandals, not to mention all the shady affairs that involved Real Madrid.

    When it comes to Real it is just worked into the system. Real, the royals, the establishments team, Franco's old team, the governments team. I have not seen that much Spanish football but from what I have seen there cant really be much doubt that the entire establishment from refs and upward favours Real and gives them quite obvious advantages.
