[IMG] Well, i'm thinking about soling BG + Totsc, until i can get the party members from Dsotsc, but i want to know if that is a smart thing, cause i want to use a paladin.
So if anyone has some tips for me?

Combat will not be much of a problem but you will miss out on several items in locked containers as forcing locks raraly seems to work. My Paladin could not force many even with 18/89 Str.

You may also find that without a source of identify spells, the cost of identifying treasure may seriously reduce profits. This can be a pain in the early stages.

Forcing locks? What is this? I have never heard of forcing locks before. I thought you had to use a spell or thief ability.

Chas, have a fighter-type attack a locked chest and you'll see what they mean. By the way, my 18/00 strength fighter rarely has any trouble bashing open locks - or most creature's skulls, for that matter.

Hmm, i have the Heart of Fury + a mod which makes the enemies 2x more difficult.
About containers and Identifying items, i will do this after i get the characters from Dsotsc, so this won't be much of a problem.
But i still need more tips.

Don't try soloing with a non-thief; the traps will kick your ass unless you know where ALL of them are. But if you're determined to solo with a paladin, try taking Imoen along just to the places with traps, and stash her somewhere (out of party) when you don't need her.

EDIT: She can also open containers for you and has decent lore for identifying items.

Actually, I think that soloing with a mage will be easier. I did it once (before I got TOTSC) and after I got to level 6 it got very easy. Just get the rod of monster summoning, and you're a god. Also, with two rings of wizardy (one from the friendly arm and the other from BG) you have 12 magic missiles... That's awesome!

I'm not sure how your paladin will beat Sarevok, though. A mage can summon monsters, but he's just impposible to melee... I had Kaigen drink every potion I could think of, and he didn't last a minute vs. Sarevok... His THAC0 is just too low. When I soloed with a cleric\ ranger the only thing I could do after he killed all my skeletons was to run around in circles and fire sling bullets at him :X

Oh, and you don't need a thief. Other than the annoying lightning traps in dungeons, you should get to high levels very fast, and have enough hit points to just take the damage. By doing all the quests in Beregost and the friendly arm, you can easily get to level 4...

First of all I don't know if you guys have noticed that Ancient Galatan's last post is a bit old (31 of March) so I don't know if he still needs some tips...
Anyway a paladin can solo BG1 without problems.
Traps:he can take the damage and survive.
As for Sarevok if you hit him with an arrow of dispelling first, then you can beat him without many problems...

Also Sarevok is changed a bit from normal BG1, and in the Bg1 totsc. I do not recal the specifics, but in BG1 i do belive he had insanelly high magic resistance, wich was removed in totsc, but given better combat skills/levels.

I never found soloing fun in these games, playing with few characters can be fun, 2-3 is my favorite. So i would probably have taken Imoen or Coran along, both are very versatile characters.

Dark side of the sword coast mod does make alot of places harder, Firewine bridge becomes rather crowded at times, and i died several times through Nashkel mines (Kobold mines) first time :p

OK I will try to recall how I defeated Sarevok.I was soloing a fighter on insane.
In the final battle I remember that I wanted to kill everyone and not only Sarevok and this wasn't easy.
I used a lot the ring of invisibility that you can buy from Ulgoth's Beard Inn and invisibility potions.
So after Sarevok's initial speech I went invisible and managed to kill, 1 at a time, Semaj, Angelo and Tazok. When something
went wrong I turned invisible and retried. When all the others were dead I shot Sarevok with some arrows of dispelling to get rid of his
superbuffing from potions. After this you can kill him with arrows,he is not hasted anymore, or if you want to be more ''fair'' you can take on him even in melee (if you are buffed up with potions). At least my fighter was able to do that.

IMO in BG1 fighter is the most powerful class contrary to BG2 where magic users are the ones who rule...
