The only bard i've solo-ed is a Blade, very good IMO.
    - Golems: Stick a profeciency in Warhammers, one will do. This will allow you to hit many enemies with good weapons, and allows you to use the Crom.
    - Dragons: Tricky, nearly all tactics here need to be used to them.
    - Mages: With the Blade's Defensive Spin (Ac-10, THAC0 improved by 10 or something), you can cast spells without fearing to be hit in combat (see fighters), and a few breaches would be very useful, (lev 5 spell).
    - Mass enemis: Use a very effective Offensive Spin which should sort out the majority of smaller enemies.

    Very very good class.

    yes, I see.
But it is very useful too, when you summon a lot of monsters, haste them, and sing a battle song to them.

    I soloed a Blade into Underdark. Finished ~lvl 23.

    Use Offensive Spin when meleeing.
I had * in Flails and the FoA for golems.
    Mass enemies I offensive spinned.
    Never fought dragons.
Fighters I used Stoneskin or Fireshield.
Mages I cast Breach or Secret Word, then fought. Magic Missile was handy for spell disruption.
Skull trap is a great spell.
