[IMG] I'm soloing for the first time. I've not got far because I've misplaced my second cd so I'm gonna try to concentrate on the absolute best solo character. I'm thinking a F/M/T because of the glorious spellcasting plus the added bonus of hide in shadows ability. Would a mage/theif be better though? A F/M/T has serious penalties though, like limited spells, and limited abilities.. Can a M/T use a bow? If he can, then I'm thinking M/T because of the extra spells and better theiving abilities.

I don't know any spell limitations of F/M/T. If you play with a gnome, that can be M/T and this case the illusionist gets one extra spell per spell-level.
M/T is good, but the F/M/T is better, for soloing the best.
M/T can't hit the opponent. The one star in weapon profiency is not enough, the THACO is not low enough. (Not even you are hiding in shadow!!!)
Yes it can use bow (short bow only). But you will have only one weapon slot, and if the enemy gets closer you may be in trouble.
If you are a good character, you can use Drizzt's scimitar which gives you +2 AC +3 THACO it is better than any bow.

M/T is difficult. But i like it because it's difficult. I have to think a lot. ;)
Tactics become more necessary, it's no hack and slay at all. I have to use the thief abilities often. I'm glad i tried it as a M/T and not as a F/M/T. But i wouldn't try it as a pure mage because casting is slow.
