[IMG] Hey, i'm new to these boards, but anyways I want to start a solo monk. I want to know what race/stats/feats/skills I should use to make an effective solo monk (normal mode for the start)

Well, you should take the weapon finesse feat, without a doubt. It allows you to apply your DEX modifier to your attack rolls. So if your DEX is 18, you have a modifier of 4. Spend a lot of points on DEX. Don't pump up your strenth up too much. Spend points on wisdom. Your conversational skills should be good too, so a pretty high charisma and mercantile background feat is a must. But don't forget a monk does not engage in personal possesion, wich means he will refuse rewards for quests. You will only get 1/3 of the rewards in the game. If you are just starting out with Icewind Dale 2, I strongly recommend you finish the game first with a party of at least 4 members, but you don't have to of course.

you must also have a high wisdom stat, because as a monk you get the wsdom bonus to your AC.I think that the best race is Deep Gnome:)When your playing a solo charcter you will gain levels very fast so you won't even notice that deep gnome has a level adjustment. Deep gnome provides a great bonuses(at 13th level you'll get a Spell Resistance at 49 so you won't be a subject for a spells).

I'm doing a three-hero party with an elven mystra paladin 1/Sorc X, a straight ghostwise druid, and a deep gnome monk.

I've never had such a pathetic starter as that monk. He's three levels behind everyone--that's not so bad when it's 2/5, but when he was level one and everyone else was 4, he was just pathetic.

Moral: Be very very careful when you are starting out. You might need to go human or something to avoid the gnome penalty.
