I just had an incredibly fun time wasting a few hours with a solo Archer. Man, I've been looking for a way to spice up my games and this is definitely it! :D

Its odd, but the idea of soloing has never appealed to me for a moment. With a charachter like an Archer, just having to either avoid areas with traps or suffer the consequences would drive me insane. And of course I'd never be able to survive very long as a solo charachter anyway  Enjoy your game, Klorox!

I rather enjoyed soloing a gnome C/T... until HLA's started to kick in. It becomes quite boring -- my little gnome killed both dragons with ease, even the Twisted Rune was too easy (Kangaxx was a joke).

If you want to delay HLA's kicking in too quickly you can install SimDingo's DEFJAM mod. You can lower XP down to 1/6th. It would be basically same amount you get by playing full party, you won't level too quickly.

Best part of soloing is when you are low level without decent weapons. I remember first time soloing with plain thief and running around circus with pissed off Mencar Pebblecrusher on her tail. After couple of ours when he finally went down it really felt like achievement. Comparable to first dragon kill.

I'm currently soloing a bard through the whole saga. Using mainly missile weapons as well, Giant Hair crossbow at the moment, Firetooth +4 next.
Fireball + Haste make the whole thing ridiculously easy and harder enemies go down with bolts of lightning. And if missile weapons don't work, I always have 19 strength (thanks BG tomes) and a big sword.
