[IMG] well... I was wondering how one solo sorcerer/wizard would survive the trials at the monk monastery!

can you please end my curiosity?

A solo magic user is powerful enough by the time he makes it to the monastary to defeat every trial easily. That said, I don't remember precisely how I did it when I soloed a sorcerer.

I bypass the trials by forcefully taking the key from those who demand that I face the trials....usually killing Salisman (the new leader after Aruma leaves) and running to the stairs before the monks overwhelm me.

Don't solo a Wizard! (unless you really like high INT low CHA types ;) ) If you do you won't get spells fast enough. Nothing is worse than knowing that your character could cast higher level spells but that you can't actually use them because you haven't found the right scrolls yet.

Besides a Sorcerer can choose whatever spells he or she wants (for free) and that's a great asset. Furthermore without a party to watch your spellcaster's back you'll want a character who can cast as many spells as possible.

Like Nunsbane said a solo character shouldn't have any trouble with the trials (with the right protective spells -stoneskin and mirror image- and feats -spirit of fire- the monks shouldn't hurt your character too much then dishing damage can be a pain but in the end it can be done). If it's not just skip them (you'll miss a lot of XP though).

The Chamber of Immolation may be tricky though...

The Chamber of Immolation shouldn't be too difficult with animate dead. The key is to get those slow zombies that have high resistance to both fire and bludgeoning damage. Then just run around with your sorc and avoid getting hit by the flamestrike.
From time to time the monks decides to attack the zombie(s) and that's just what you want...

Fire Elementals are the best summons for the Chamber of Immolation. Summon one, get invisible and avoid the flame until the monks are taken care of.
