[IMG] Okay, I finally picked it up, as the patches are supposed to fix most of the bugs already, and am about to play for the 1st time and I'm trying to stay away from walkthroughs :p I've just created my char:

    TN Human Male Fighter
    STR: 18
    CON: 16
    DEX: 15
    INT: 12
    WIS: 12
    CHAR: 15

Is it doable to solo with this char? and will it be fun this way? or should i create a whole party?

Well, I suppose anything's doable with enough reloads, but enjoyable... Why don't you play the first time with a party and see how you like it. Anyway, you can always add chars during gameplay, and kick others out of your party. There are also lots of NPCs out there, but IMHO most don't add much to the game, excluding a couple in the later stages.
Personally, I really enjoyed the turn-based battle system of TOEE, and I think it's not as enjoyable when soloing. You'd also be missing on some very nice spell effects, monk-moves,druid shapechanges and item crafting.
Two last things - remember that you'll only get to level 10, so soloing the game won't get you a godlike char like in other games (the current XP remover is pretty limited and buggy from my experience). And, if alignment is flexible for you, you might consider changing your solo fighter's alignment to CG to make life a little easier towards the end game.

The game is apparently set for at least 3 characters, so you might find it a bit tricky. Mind you, you'll probably do a better job than me ;) .

Ok, I'll try to use a CG party first :) a coupla questions: since the characters I'll be using aren't pregenerated, this probably means that there WONT be any NPC bantering? :( Also, is there an equivalent for IWD and ToB's "alt" key, which will highlight all doors/items/etc? And the map is kinda annoying, its so big and it keeps moving, and i just got to hommlet :/

Yes, the ALT-key highlights certain things when pressed, although I'm not certain to what extent. I know that corpses of slain and untouched foes are highlighted, so you can see which one you already looted and which one not.

As for treasure cases and crates: there's only a handful of them anyway, easily recognizable (I'd say).

And yes, there's absolutely no bantering in a party with self built characters. If the pregenerated parties banter a lot, I can't say - never had any in my ranks.

The map in Hommlet: you can jump from Hommlet north to south to east on the map's world view. Saves quite a bit of annoying travelling.

The level cap in ToEE is 10, and the game is hard with 6-7 level 9-10 chars, it'll take a lot of skill and reloads to solo it.

    Maybe try ironman mode?

its cool, I decided to go with a 5man CG party. I'm losing interest though, the maps are so damn annoying. they're so big and they don't even move with you and you gotta drag them and all that. freakin hassle. does it get better after boring hommlet? i mean smaller maps, no more running around, etc?

I'd say yes. There's always a good deal of running around - especially when you reach the temple. But there are plenty of battles to make up for it.

I had the same feeling about Hommlet. The quests are damned boring, the map is too big, there's no one interstng there.

What a relief I felt once I went to the Moathouse. Just bear with the game a little longer, I quite like it for the later parts.

Well, the moathouse is fairly small, and that's probably one of the best areas in the game.

After that, you get to the Temple, which is massive, but you only get that impression when you are trekking back to town through it.

Problems aside, I believe ToEE is awesome and severely underrated. Darley rules.
