    From the same:

This is starting to happen politically here as well. America is undergoing a politicial realignment of sorts, atm. The old lines of right and left are being redefined.

    Without a doubt.

It seems that many in the west, still refuse to accept that the Soviet Union collapsed under Gorbachev. Alarmist strategists on both sides of the Atlantic continue to claim that Moscow is on the march. These inveterate cold warriors see every step by the Kremlin as a prelude to a lunge for the west's throat. The Russian president is portrayed as some terrifying Machiavellian crypto-Stalinist with an icy grip around western Europe's gas pipes.

In reality, it is the west that is fighting the cold war not the Russians. Similarly, it is the west who makes the running in global pipeline politics. Every time there is a crisis in the former Soviet Union; Putin instead of perpetrating Brezhnev-style interventions, stands aside and so, the anti-Russian side wins. In contrast, America and Britain are still gloating over their role in toppling pro-Russian governments in the former Soviet Union. This is not to say that promoting democracy is not a noble venture, but for the west to prop up the horrid regime in Azerbaijan, (simply to complete the Baku-Ceyhan pipeline that has cut Russia out of Caspian oil exports) and then lambaste Russia's support for Belarus' Lukashenko, simply reeks of hypocrisy. It is absurd how Ukraine's Orange revolutionaries repaid their neo-con western sponsors by switching the direction of the Odessa-Brody pipeline to suit US strategy last year. Yet, the fact that Ukrainians are helping to pump this gas westwards without passing through Russia, and thus avoiding transit fees, is precisely why Gazprom is forced to up prices to compensate for lost revenue.

It is quite possible for both Putin and the Chechen terrorists to be villains simultaneously.

    Could you elaborate on that?

EDIT: These people are getting even more noisy and straight face. Who plays with fire should expect to be burnt. http://www.news.com.au/story/print/0,10119,17932630,00.html

Not only this non Russian thief bastard stole BILLIONS from us, but he wants to dethrone our president and rule over us. I am glad Putin is moving against all those "NGO" backed by western goverments and billionares.

Yes, but I'm not going to. I've no interest in debating Putin's merits--or lack thereof--with you.
