Some IE game questions

I was cleaning out my closet when I found a CD case filled with Infinity Engine games. BG 1 & 2, IWD 1 & 2, BG2 SoA & ToB, and Planescape. I've not played them for close to 5 years more or less.

1- Aside from the patches listed in the Games section, what are some other things I should d/l to fully enjoy these games?

2- The BG2 patches... Am I correct in assuming if I have ToB, I do NOT need the regular BG2 patch?

3- Oh and also, I plan on backing up the CD's onto my Seagate external hard drive. how can I do so? just drag and drop?

 

Pretty much everything you need is on this site (apart from beer and pizza!). You shouldn't need anything else.
As to the rest, I'm not good with technical stuff so I have no idea.

 

1) Some people will reccomend third party patches, or an ease-of-use mod - but depends if you remember any particularly annoying features or bugs you want removing. I've somehow managed eight years without needing them though so won't say one way or the other.

2) If you only have SoA, you'll only need the SoA patch. If you have ToB you'll only need the ToB patch. You will only need one or the other

3) Drag and drop is just fine. You'll still need to retain the physicals though.

 

Probably the "ease-of-use" patches or their decedents, the G3 tweaks packages. Both ease-of-use and G3 tweaks are available for all BG & IWD games. I think there is something available for Planescape too. You'll also want the fixpacks from G3 or Baldurdash for BG.

There's another BG2 tweaks set whose name I can't recall, one of the things it does it remove the summoning limit. IF somebody else can repost the name & link, I'd appreciate it.

Correct. Install ToB, then install the ToB offical patches. Then install either Baldurdash or it's descendant the G3 fixpack.
Next install the ease-of-use or its descendant the G3 tweaks. Then install the one I mentioned previously, that I'd have to spend an hour looking through my bookmarks to find the name for.

Depends on what you want to do. For pure backup purposes, you can't go wrong with simple .ISO images. Just about every CD burner program I've seen in the last 12 years can make them except for the one built-in to Windows.

If you want to use the Seagate instead of having to swap discs, then do as you mentioned, and edit the .ini files to point to the seagate hard drive and the appropriate folders.

There were instructions somewhere on how to combine the BG2 & ToB CDs to make one DVD, but I lost the link. If somebody can repost that I'd appreciate it.
