[IMG] I've got a little problem:
After I get the Soultaker Dagger, I go bach to Ulgoth's Beard, and it gets stolen (I know thats supposed to happen). Anyway, after I defeat all the cultists on the top level of the building, I go downstairs and the most peculiar thing happens. I talk to that woman, and when the monster is released, all the cultists on the level start multiplying uncontrollably. I can't do anything because they cast hold on me or something.

Has anyone had this happen to them?? Is it a bug, and if so, where can I get a patch??

    Thanx!!!

[IMG] Yea, the endless respawn is a known bug. All of the patches are listed at http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG/index_misc.php

But in order for the patch to have any effect you'll have to install it and load a savegame previous to your entering the cultist cellar...

(Scream of frustration)- I'm having a different problem in the exact same part of the map. After I kill the tanari'i, a ghoul shows up on the map and instantaneously kills my main character with a single touch. It was nowhere on the map before that moment- I checked!- and there's no way to avoid it since at the moment it spawns it's practically sitting on me. I've reloaded, fought the battle 3 times, and each time the same thing happens. My game is fully patched.

Any ideas? Has anyone else had an instant-kill ghoul problem?

That isn't an instant kill ghoul, that is the effect of the Tanar'ri death gaze. Your character is being turned into that Ghoul. If you look at your character portrait during the battle, you'll see an icon on it that indicates you've been affected. After that, you have a certain amount of time to cast a dispel magic on the affected person to avoid them being turned into a Ghoul.

Potions of Mirrored Eyes protect you from the death gaze by the way.

Blackthorne, sorry I didn't get a chance to say "Thank you" before the boards died. If it's not too late, "Thanks!".

I'd just like to add to Tal's comment above though- actually you have to load a save game not only before entering the cellar, but also before entering Ulgoth's Beard. I found this out the hard way. Sigh. I thought I had the latest patch but I must not have re-downloaded it after I had to reformat my hard drive.

I have fought that battle now so many times it's not funny. At this point I'm going to give up and let the cultists summon anyone they want. Meanwhile, my little party is boldly running away from Ulgoth's Beard, never to return...
