[IMG] I really need new sound-sets. I have tons of new and cool portraits, from various sites and Kirith's wonderful site, but I don'T know where I can find some BG2 compatible complete soundsets. I don't want famous-known people's soundsets, I just want plain and good sound-sets, suitable for a mage, cleric, fighter, BARD etc.

I have IWD too, the soundsets there are cool! I tried converting them into BG2 game, copied&pasted the soundset BUT it was buggy, my char ended up always saying the wrong things, ie:attacking lines when selected and various strange sounds. How can I convert IWD soundsets into BG2?

    Thanks to all.

Silver, I'm sure you can find some great soundsets for all the different types of classes somewhere! I found some great ones from a link on this site, forgot what it was but i'll look for it!

By the way, you should have a soundset document in your BG2 file which explains how to make custom soundsets and such. The set you copied from IWD must obviously have a different order than the BG2 format. It's in the Readme file but incase anyone else wants a quick reference here it is!

    Custom Sound files:

The following is a list of the WAV files for the custom sound sets. The list has been increased and modified since Baldur's Gate, so if you already have a custom sound set you will need to update it to match the current format. Replace each 'XXXXXXX' in the filenames with the name of the sound set (MAX 7 CHARACTERS in XXXXXXX, plus one character as noted below for a total of 8 letters). All the WAV files should be 22 khz, 16 bit mono sounds.

Copy the WAV files to the Sounds directory located in the directory that Baldur's Gate II was installed in, and then select this sound set either in character creation or in the "Customize" button off of the Character Record page. For multiplayer, merely send your custom sounds to all of the people you are playing with and have them copy them to the Sounds directory. If you have installed the sounds to your character in your game, everyone will hear your sounds once they copy them into the correct directory.

Thanks, I already read the readme. But should I really edit the names of all IWD soundset files for the proper order? AND I don'T know the order or format IWD uses, so it is quite tiring I guess. I should listen to one IWD file, find its appropriate name from the BG2 list, and then edit. Ohh... :(

And IWD soundsets does not have lines for some BG2 ones, like critical miss/hits, in dungeon or whatever, and the like.

BTW PC soundsets in BG2 does not have lines for when dungeon/city/forest etc eh? :p

BTW:$ilvershield, why did you change your nick? This was your old one eh?

Still, if anyone can give me links for nice soundsets I will really appreciate it!

EDIT:Razfallow, you gave the link just when I was typing! THANK YOU!

Will this program require IWD2? I have IWD installed, but not IWD2 now; my friend's cat familiar has used CDs for chewing toy. :wail:

    It says in the readme:
Enjoy, and remember that both IWD1/IWD2 and BG2 must be installed for these programs to run

But it has two different launchers, one IWD1 and other IWD2 so I can assume that IWD1 works well with IWD installed alone?

I've tried the converter before. It works, but puts the resulting files in the wrong directories (even if you've installed the games in their default locations). After running it, you then have to hunt the generated files down and do some copying and pasting to put the new sound files into the proper BG2 sounds directory.

I've checked the generator and it pulls the game paths right out of the registry, and then moves the output to the /sounds directory in the BG2 install directory. I guess the only way something could go awry would be if you had a broken installation of BG2 that didn't contain proper registry entries.

Actually my installations were fine. If I remember correctly the problem was that the DOS commands (which included the full directory paths plucked from registry) were simply too long to be entered as DOS lines (too many characters), so the files ended up in a falsely entered location.

Well, something's not as it should be on your end. I've just tested the thing myself and it worked without a hitch. The entire output ended up exactly where it should have, in the BG2 sounds dir.
