I'm building myself a new party that will ultimately play HoF. I have 2 Sorcerers and a Morninglord, so I have evocation covered. I want to add a Wizard too. For the end game, which is better, Conjurer or Enchanter?

 

Doesn't matter as long as you take a mix-in class in any other spellcasting class (sorc, cleric, pally or even monk works) to remove the opposition school limitation.

Taking three arcane casters plus a morninglord is definitely heavy on the arcane side so you should already be able to pick up anything you want and then some. Picking something that expressly prohibits evocation still seems a bit odd as DBFB is just that good.

 

Well, I already started him as a rogue, he's going to handle my thief stuff.

As for the heavy arcane part, I always found that to be the most powerful way to play. I've never played HoF before, so I want an overpowered group.

 

One of my favorite builds for a specialized wizard starts off with a moon elf Necromancer. I actually prefer the Necromancer over an Evoker for my primary magic damage dealer since the Evoker would be barred from Conjuration, which has plenty of useful direct damage spells along with summons. I pretty much always have a Bard with my party, so I'm not really missing out on the Enchantment and Illusion spells, especially if I multi-class the Bard to Illusionist (Sorcerer works well, too).

Anyhow, once the Necromancer has some decent spells under his belt, taking even a single level of Ranger gives him a real edge in melee. There are a fair amount of spells that you have to get up-close and personal in order to use anyway, and with the proper buffs he can be a real threat in melee when dual-wielding.
