    Does Spell Focus (Necromancy) affect:
    Animate Dead?
Beltyn's Burning Blood (Necro, Wiz 4)?

    Does Spirit of Flame affect:
Beltyn's Burning Blood (Necro, Wiz 4)?
Planar Binding: Fire Elemental (Conj, Wiz 6)?

It would be cool if they strengthened the summonings, but I figure SF (Necro) should increase the DC of BBB and Spirit of Flame should increase the fire damage.

Do Druids not summon/control Elementals? Don't they have Summon Elemental Spells? Why can't they control the Elemental Legion? Wizards have to concentrate and have a chance of losing control of the Elemental, but Druids are supposed to be able to control them easily due to their elementalist nature and the fact they don't have Protection from Evil.

Why does taking 1 Clerical level with a Specialist Wizard abolish the opposition school restriction of the specialist? This is not a true rule in any version of AD&D or D&D. It's like the game changes the primary class to Wizard, but keeps the +1 spell per spell level. This is surely a bug? Or is this because the game can't distinguish between Divine and Arcane magick so an Illusionist/Cleric would not be able to cast priestly Abjurations and Necromantic spells?

What if a Cleric takes a Wizard class? Can he take a specialist level like Abjurer or Illusionist? Will he still have the school restriction or will he have to be a Wizard? What if he takes another Clerical level later on, does that re-abolish the restriction?

What about a Rogue-Illusionist? Is he stuck with he normal opposition schools?

    Cheers

AD no (only by caster level), BBB yes.
BBB yes, PB:FE no (summons are caster level only, not DC).

It's unfair, I agree:(. The designers should've spent more time on that, instead of leaving patchwork to the modding community...

    eh... yes ..?

No, it doesn't work that way. Classes have restrictions, so combining classes unlocks those restrictions, sometimes unintentionally. It works the same with class-only items: if you have the required class, then your character can use it regardless of further restrictions.
if you can mix in a cleric level, not anymore. Try Deep Gnome Illusionist X / Rogue 2 / Dreadmaster of Bane 1...

I'd guess that IWD2 creates restrictions based on the spell school. Since clerics are allowed to cast Necromancy spells while Illusionists are not, a multiclass must therefore be able to cast them so that they can utilize their clerical spells as well.

Doesn't still explain why a level of MONK of all things removes the restrictions as well, while Ranger and Bard do not.

Perhaps the Quivering Palm ability is considered a form of Necromancy..?

It belongs to the Conjurer school of magic (I checked this on DLTCEP).

Hey, I thought any spell-casting class mixed in removed the restrictions?

Paladin does but not a Ranger?

So my Moon Elf Ranger-Enchanter won't be able to cast Magick Missile?

    SWIZZ!

    SHENNANIGENS!!

If they are going to programme in a bug/glitch/exploit, they should at least make it consistent.

Still, at least my Deep Gnome Illusionist-Monk won't have the restriction.

Shame about those HoF DC's, though...

[IMG] Maybe it's because you need multiple levels before rangers even get spells. Just one level ranger won't open a new spellbook...
Oh wait, that goes for paladin too, of course. Hmmmm...

If anything, consistency is the LAST thing to expect from IWD2. Expect things to work in a reasonable, consistent way and get ready to get disappointed.

One of the main reasons for me to write the JUPP, by the way.
