I just finished smashing Nizidramanii'yt. I wanted to try and take him down with my two mages. I cast spell trap on both of them:

"This powerful spell creates a barrier of magical protection around the spellcaster. Every spell that hits the barrier is absorbed by the power of the spell trap -- making the caster recall a previously cast spell. For example, a wizard shields himself with spell trap and is then hit by a Flame Arrow (3rd level spell). He gets three spell levels back -- he will regain one spell, up to 3rd level in power.
The spell trap protects against 30 levels of protection (i.e., ten flame arrows or five finger's of death). The spell trap can absorb any level of spell, from one to nine."

I also cast protection from magical weapons on both of them. At a certain point one of my mages stopped casting spells, she had spell casting failure all the time, I looked at her portrait and saw the miscast magic symbol. Next I tried casting heal on her, but it was absorbed by the spell trap which was still active.

So how does this spell work? It doesn't absorb enemy spells, but only the spells which could actually benefit you or what?

Try casting Spell Trap after all others. Hope that helps.

I'm not sure about this, but Nizidramanii'yt is a druidic caster, so I would guess that he cast one of the Insect Plague spells, which is not absorbed by Spell Trap as it was not cast at one of the people with Spell Trap active. I'm not sure what the effect of that would be, but it would make sense.

[IMG] Ah, IIRC, Spell Trap only traps Arcane Spells (wizard, sorcerer etc), not Divine (cleric, druid, ranger etc). And Miscast magic wouldn't count anyway, only straight damage type spells IIRC. Such as Magic Stone, Harm, Flame Arrow etc etc.

If it doesn't trap devine spells, then why does it trap heal? I can't heal my character while in spell trap, but miscast magic does get through....
