I'm trying evil again and getting into it for some wacky reason. The tough parts of this party is getting everyone together. I got over the first hurdle with Rayric Gethras to get Edwin. Damn, I hate those golems. :grr:

Now I want Korgan. His book involves dealing with the nasty undead in the catacombs under the Graveyard area. My party is around level 8. All I want now is to get in and out without a lot of hassle to complete Korgan's quest.

Will invisibility work to hide the party from the undead? I'm mainly worried about the room with the Egyptian face on the floor and the vamps, wraiths and ghouls that pop out from behind the doors. :bad:

I did Korgan's quest the very first thing with no problem, just make sure you save korgan's berserker frenzy for the vampyre in the first room. Your clerics should spend the entire time turning undead (I had both Aerie and Viccy turning/rebuking and it made things a cake walk).

Yes that is a very doable quest even for a first thing party. You can pick up Viconia real quick before you head down there without much of a fight at all, for extra support.

With Korgan the way I generally do it is to position him in an area where the wraith pops out, and have him go berserk so he won't get level drained. I then take care of the rest of the undead. I then have him go berserk a second time to kill the vampire if his first berserk has worn off by now. His 3rd and final berserk is used a little further down that corridor where there are additional wraiths. With liberal use of berserk, you are immune to all the hold and level drain effects of the undead, which IMO is the only hard part of the entire uncounter. If you have Edwin, you may as well go to the lich in the eastern corner of the area as well and pick up the Nether Scroll. While I don't remember the exact dialog options, I believe there is a way to get the scroll without actually having to fight the lich.

^Then again you should really fight the lich for quick and easy XP, he is the weakest lich in the entire game, without any contingencies or active protections, just bash him till he dies, he won'T be even able to cast a single incantation.

Vampires and wraiths are tricky. Sanctuary works wonders, have a cleric cast Sanctuary and constantly turn undead. If you can have Daystar, it really helps at this point. A single protection from undead scroll can make it a walk in the park.

As others said Korgan is really fit for his quest, as long as he is berserked, nasty undeads will not be able to level drain or hold him.

the liche is a push over anyway, his best offensive spell is a sunfire, so as long as he doesn't get that off, you're in good shape (I had all my weak party members die the first time through as I didn't stop him from casting Sunfire, the second time through I pounded him into the ground with no real problems).

Really, when I fought him he didn't have any chance to cast even a single spell. So I don'T think there really is a reason to flinch from the 'lich' unless you have crap THAC0 and # of attacks.

I have a barby and Korgan, so they will try raging. Anomen's level 8, so his turn undead should only make them run, right? I'm worried mostly about any vamps and wraiths that show up (level drain).

Yeah, I'm getting Edwin's done, too while I'm there. That lich is so easy it's not funny.

Raging should work fine. Do they lose their control while berserked like Minsc occasionaly does? Then it can be slightly tougher, but doable. Keep Anomen sanctuaried or he will lose his levels quickly! And your mages (if any) can go futile with fireballs and such, these are wonderful against most undead
you know? (except Shadow Fiends, which, for some reason, immune to fire!) Provided that your tanks are well protected against fire (Anomen can cast a few protection from fire, right?) you can literally throw fireballs, or use wands of fire, they pack a huge punch to swarms of undead too! And with the mummies being fragile to fire...they yield almost too easy NICE XP! Go for it!

Korgan does not loose control when he goes into a rage, making Korgan's rage very useful.

also be careful not to let the undead flee out of the enterance you came through, otherwise they and their exp will be gone FOREVER (this happened to me one of my times through this dungeon, the powergamer in me almost made me restart the entire game).

FOREVER? I tracked them outside and killed them eventually. You only need to search, they do not simply be 'gone' or vanish.

I mopped up the undead int he room and then tracked around the entire tomb outside, killin Pai'nai nad going up to Bohdi's door and all 2 ghouls, and skeletal warrior or two simply had vanished (unless they magically made their way into Bohdi's lair where I couldn't go), they where not in the southern dungeon, nor where they in the enterance dungeon. This same thing happened to me in with the undead standing on the bridge before the lair of the Unseeing Eye, they simply vanished, I followed them into the next room, but nothing was waiting for me.

^What a shame. Then I would load too, I love getting XP via killing nasty critters, particularly undead species, as they almost always yield tasty and easy XP. Though no longer 'easy' since improved undead component of Tactics, but it is still FUN!

Invis. 10' worked charmingly. I got Korgan's book of Kaza. I need more strategy to get the Nether scroll for Edwin. The party was stuck between 6 shadows and a shadow fiend at one end of the hall and 4 mummies and a ghast at the other.
