[IMG] The Star Card from the Deck of Many Things will increase the primary stat of the user (Fighter/Ranger/Paladin/Barbarian +1 to STR, Mage/Sorcerer +1 to INT, Bard/Thief +1 to DEX, Cleric/Druid/Monk +1 to WIS). So far so good. But what about multi-classes? Until now I was convinced that the primary stat of the class which is mentioned first gets increased (for example STR for a FIGHTER/Thief). But well, I was wrong: My Fighter/Mage gained +1 to INT to my surprise. I tried a few times, but the result was always the same.

Does someone know how the Star Card works exactly for multi-classes? What would a Fighter/Thief/Mage gain?

Oh, and does the unmentioned stat gain during the Wrath-Trial in hell work the same way?

If you are a thief or a bard, you will gain DEX.
Failing that, if you are a mage you will gain INT.
Failing that, if you are a cleric or druid you will gain WIS.
Failing that (including monks), you will gain STR.

For the Wraith trial, it goes about the opposite way.
If you're a fighter you gain STR.
Failing that, if you're a thief or bard you gain DEX.
Failing that, if you're a paladin or ranger you gain CON.
Failing that, if you're a cleric or druid you gain WIS.
Failing that, if you're a long bow you gain INT.

No, that's not a typo, I said long bow. The actual condition in the area script is "IF Class(Player1,LONG_BOW)". I presume that refers to mages, but it's still damn funny.

Thanks, Felinoid, that's exactly what I'm looking for. Guess I'll get a shiny Ring of Protection +3 for my Fighter/Long Bow instead of a rather pointless INT-boost.

It's not pointless unless you already have 19 INT. (Though that would be easy to achieve just from the Machine of Lum the Mad.) And even then, you get lore out of it.

Right you are, but boosting INT from 20 to 21 is about as useful as having Skie in the party in BG1. The meager lore-bonus of five points really can't compare to the +1-bonus to AC and saving throws (when wearing RoP+3 instead of +2).

Fel, that is great info! I think I'll add that in my DoMT walkthrough. :thumb:

I doubt that many people use it, but it's still good info to have. :D :rolling:

How does TMoLTM decide the stat boost?

What are the benefits of increasing INT beyond 18?

Getting INT 19 means that you can memorize all spells that are not forbidden you (Necromancy for Illusionists, for example). No more of that "only so many spells per spell level" stuff.

Lum's Machine doesn't have to decide anything; you do. You push certain button combinations to get certain results, and the machine will churn out one boost for each of the six stats (in addition to some other things). Your decision is who to give them to.

19 INT also helps with Lore.

I want to be a long bow!

the stat boosts for the machine of lum go to the person who used it. you press the str combination and the character who did that gets +1 str, for example
