I'm down to just Durlag's Tower and chasing Sarevok at the end game before I continue my wild mage's adventures in BG2. I'm going to take a day or so to familiarize myself with all the new BG2 mods before I start so as to maximize my experience.

I have two questions regarding Weidu. Both relate to Weidu installs after play begins. Firstly, I've never seen the vanilla ending of the game. Can I get to the end of ToB, beat it, then install Ascension and beat it again to see both endings?

Second, I'm hoping to get Stuff of the Magi in a Weidu format so that I can install it and have the mod integrate properly with the rest of my mods. If I start BG2 but don't face any of the battles with Stuff of the Magi gear in it can I install the mod if a friendly modder makes it in Weidu for me? Or do I have to do both of these Weidu installs before play begins?

As long as you have a save game near the end of TOB, you can finish the game, install Ascension, and reload the savegame. Ascension's Readme has more information on where you should save the game (I don't recall offhand).

No idea on your second question, though.

That's good to know. Two climactic battles for the price of one adventure! When's the best point to do the save to see both endings?

No, Ascension changes the dialogue with Balthazar as well. The saved game should be somewhere before going to talk to him. The safest time to save is before going to Amkethran.

I see. So I could use the same save game through Tutu to BG2 and then need to play ToB twice to see the original content as well.

I'm not sure I want to do that. From what I've read the Ascension material is just head and shoulders better than the vanilla ending. Maybe I am just better off playing Ascension?

No, you're pretty far along in TOB before you get to the point Sikret mentions. I checked the Readme, and apparently you're OK if your re-start point is just before you confront Balthazar - this is after you fight both Sendai and Abazigal. So basically, you're almost at the end of TOB at that point.

Okay, good to know. I'll install the "tougher" mods at the get go and save Ascension for after I kill the last boss Bhaal spawn, then. Thanks for the heads up.

Ascension is fun! Hint:You may also experience different outcomes (allies/enemies) depending on your PC's alignment and some stats, so it has great replayability too.

Be sure to get the mod Turnabout too! It modifies the final ascension battle so that you can summon the spirit of a long-dead NPC to fight at your side, which is very cool, making the final showdown even much more dramatic and movie-like!
