After defeating Sarevok ( twice, lost my mage the 1st time ), I installed the expansion pack with the understanding that my group would make the trip as well.

Starting at Ulgoth's Beard my band was changed. Instead of Dynaheir, Branwen and Kivan I have Viconia, Edwin and another one ( who's name escapes me now ), NPC's I never used in BG1

How does it come that I have evil characters now and is there a way to have my orginal band back ?

Also this : During the BG1 the experience level of my band couldn't get higher than 89000. Is that a bug or is it just like that ? At Ulgoth's everyones exp is lower again (but that's maybe normal) and they have all different weapons, spells, potions, ..

It's the standard TotSC party. You should have installed the expansion before. Apart from starting all over again I don't have any idea (you could try loading a save from before going down the maze underneath the Thieves' Guild and see how it goes and whether or not you can see the new areas on the adventure map but I sincerely doubt it will work).

With the expansion the level cap is raised to 160000. The fight against Sarevok is more challenging too.

Bear in mind that once Sarevok is defeated the game is over.

When you enter the the temple where you fight Sarevok the game makes a final save which you should be able to load and continue playing from for TotSC (as well as from all other save games).

Thank you both, it worked :);)

So still, in BG1 you just can have 89.000 exp... that's rather low, no ?
And if the expansion pack raises it to 160.000 will I be able to take the exp and my band to BG2 ?

I heard a rumour of BG3... if it should be true and come out in Europe, will we still be able to transfer a group of players or will we start from the beginning ?

    Greets,
    Filip

For a six-person's party 89000 wasn't that easy to get. I don't find it low compared to P&P, but rather I find BG2 generous with XP.
You'll get 89000 to start with in BG2.

P&P = pen & paper, the traditional way of playing D&D.

Only if you create a new one, or import one from non-TotSC BG1. If you import a maxed out PC from TotSC with 160,000 XP (or more, if you removed the XP cap), you'll start BG2 with 160,000 XP.

The XPCap with TotSC installed is actually 161,000, not 160,000.
And even if you remove the XPCap you cannot start BG2 with more than 161,000 XP.

And how do you remove that cap ?
Is it still fun to start with 161.000 exp if you start a game from the beginning ( small enemies and things like that ... ? )
Heard about Baldurs Gate 3, can we import our band to there too ? ( Is it out already, hopefully not a 3D version ? )

Durlag's Tower without walkthrough is quite hard but great fun ( never had so many reloads as now ;) )

No, it's no fun to start in Candlekeep with high level characters. My advice would be to start SoA when the characters hit the cap and the game is finished. Removing the cap is not such a good idea if you want to use your characters inn SoA. Too many experience points kill the fun.

Sorry but BG3 is dead. There were a few misleading hints that people could export their characters from BG to NWN but that is not meant to happen.

So if you are looking for BG3 (and not 3D) you can start looking in another dimension. Hope you're not too disappointed.

This isn't an issue, because the import process will take your character XP back to 161,000 if it's anything higher than this. I've played SoA both with a character exported from BG and one from BG+TotSC, and while Chateau Irenicus is very slightly easier in the latter case the one level difference doesn't really make much difference.

I soloed BGtutu with a Blade. When I imported this character in SoA he got so many levels it wasn't even funny. One thing is for sure the XP cap didn't work for him (maybe it was tutu and the mods, I don't know).

Either it was Tutu, or my memory's completely rotten. I'd like to say it's the first, but I'm not that sure :)

    You memory is not rotten.

As you say, in an unmodded game you get 1 extra level importing a BG+TotSC char compared to importing a BG char only.
