Alot of people would say staff of magi, and i would probably agree with them, but what about other staves, such as staff of woodlands +4,staff of striking, staff of rhynn, etc.

Also i think staves are an under rated weapon in general, if you look at all there bonus' they are far superior to most other weapons in the game.

Yup, but you can't dual wield them :p! Well, actually you can dual wield two staff maces if you want. But I agree, they are very good. I would never equip a fighter with one however, only some kinda spell caster like a mage, druid, or cleric.

  3. I thought staves were like wands and rods, but more powerful than the former and less than the latter. By the way, I found none in the game.

Oh, but if you're talking about staffs (is staves the plural of staff?), I like Arundel's Staff. Good for a druid.

I have found the Staff of Fire & Staff of Air so far in my journies. They had some OK abilities, destroy simular elemental if struck by staff if failed save, a couple of abilities that used charges and they functioned as +2 staves. I would wish there was a greater selection through.

As Staff should have, in BG2 the main benefit of Staves is that they have many special abilities. Also BG2 contains many good staves. Another good thing is that staves are rather quick and light so good weapons for mages.

I like the earth, wind, and fire staffs. But only a druid can use the thunder one! doh!
I wanted to use all the elemental staffs!

A good, basic staff that you can get more than one of, is the Cleric's Staff +3. It even comes in pretty blue shades :p.

There is a graet staff in TOB but it can't be mentioned...The staff of the magi, staff of the the woodlands, staff of rhyn and the staff of power are all the best ones in SOA. The elemental staves, the staff of arundel (on the collector's edition CD I think) and the clric's staff are good too. Hope that was useful.

    Cheers, Void

You know, I just got an idea... when I get BG2 to work properly again, I will make a fighter that specializes in staves... That would be "fun"

Staff of the Magi +3, very cooool

  12. Staff of Healing is good too. Not only does it heal, but gives +2 to saves and AC.

Corr Raven. SotM is +5, not +3.

[IMG] Hmm cj you are confusing me. Staff of Healing? Sounds great, but where is that? I've never found that.

You can find the Staff of Curing in one of the graveyard's crypts. It can heal up to 10 points of damage and any poison. It's use is in charges, not once per day, meaning once you run out, the only way to recharge it is buy it and sell it back, or it may even deplete like a wand, I'm not sure. It also gives +2 to AC and Saving throws.

[EDITED for mistakes, thanks Extremist :)]

There is no Staff of Healing in SoA.

Lord Sarevok wrongly described abilities of Staff of Curing.
But Staff of Curing is not Enchanted (no +1) and besides AC+2 it provides +2 to all saving throws as creudzfeldt-jakob stated correctly.
    The staff has 10 charges.

The crypt to loot it is the one where a certain priest keeps an eye on an orphin (eastern end of area).

  16. Whoops, sorry the mishap. BTW, the Staff of Healing, er, Curing is also in a non-undead crypt, so it's essentially free. A good staff for starters.
