[IMG] So a friend of mine is in a band. Some sort of rock I can't define, but I like it. I'm somewhat prejudiced, since I know several players.

I'd like to know your thought about this particular song I have in my head regularly. I'd also like to hear if you usually listen to (and like) such music.

The song is called 'Comfort Me', played live at a very small festival called Binnenband in Gouda (NL)

Well, first off, I'll start by saying that I realize that they're probably not targeting 44 year old guys with their music. :D

Having said that, it was OK, but I thought if anything, it lacked an "edge" and was a bit commercial in that it sounds similar to a lot of other music out there - it blends some pop, power rock, and other styles.

(Kiss of death when an old guy thinks it lacks an edge. :p )

On the other hand, it might be commercial enough to get them somewhere.

The use of atmospherics in the chorus is nice and the best part of the song (what is it, keyboard emulating violins?). But perhaps too formulaic, and pedestrian elsewhere. Good potential.

[IMG] A listened to the 3 songs and here is what I think:

Beautyful didn't sound to bad although it wasn't that original. The good part was that the end of the song reminded me off an Anathema Gig I did see...

About the live trax: Well at least we can hear that the singer can sing live! That is one really good thing! The music sounds a bit like radiohead IMHO but I can hear a lot more influences... Sometimes the singer sounds like Ville Valo from HIM but I don't know if that is a good thing ;) The music from Comfort me is pretty cool...

It's not really my kind of music but it's allright!
