At The Online Roleplayer there has been published an interview with Steve Savicki, the gentleman who conducts Hall of Fame interviews at NWVault. Brucer Nielson, a Hall of Fame author, was interested in what a module player or builder could learn from his experience, hence the turning of the table. Here is a snip:

I know as a mod maker, I'm always interested in what makes a mod stand out to a player. What elements make these 5 mods stand out for you?

I enjoy a radical change in scenery, things that stand out from standard modules, or very unique story line.

We all know how much scenery Pacific Productions used in Caereena. Ghool did a great job in changing environments from the 2 side quests (bandit and Illithid quests) to the tomb itself. And I might add that the tomb was a complete death trap.

Under the Moonlight I would have played for soundtrack alone. This one goes along well with my comment about about "things that stand out from standard modules." The soundtrack for Under the Moonlight definitely stands out. I wouldn't mind if people would use Kreyg's soundtrack for other modules (with his and Expresso's permission of course.)

Cave of Song's haunting storyline is probably the most unique I've seen here and Baldecaran claims that “hauntingness” will keep up in his upcoming module.

Kale's Ranger's was the best module focused for a single class – in this case, rangers. I actually liked it more than Rick Burton's series for the paladin, which is also well done but perhaps more famous. Kale's Rangers felt so Lord-of-the-Rings-like. Part 1 is where you meet your (very small) Fellowship (Marissa I believe her name is.) Part 2 you start off in the swamps or dark forest area; a dark, haunting area where Frodo and Sam journey towards Mordor in the first half of the Two Towers movie. You know, the part where the dead body opens his eyes and pulls Frodo into the water. I am anxiously waiting for part 3. I sure hope Gary Whicker can meet or even exceed his past efforts. But I want him to take his time to put forth an excellent ending so he will release part 3 when it's ready.
