I'm looking to build (as a possibility for future campaigns) a storyteller character, that is, the guy at the campfire who knows/constructs some elaborate myth/tale that inspires his fellows or provides insight into a current dilema. He would have to be eloquent and well spoken to be able to effectivley orate his tales, which would translate into a high Charisma. However, i don't want him to be extremely gregarious and outgoing. I think it would be more interesting for him to be more withdrawn, expresing himself best when reciting some long forgotten legend or poem. My question, then, is this: What class should this character be? My initial idea was the Bard, because Bards are the poets, preformers, and (i believe i read somewhere) storytellers of D and D. However, owing to the more brooding nature i desire for this character, I wonder if mabye a Wizard might work better (wizards, after all, are scholars and a wizard would have come across many stories in their studies). Or mabye even a Sorcerer, because of their often humble origins (which would translate into a repitoire of local myths) and their high charisma? And if the Bard (who I'm leaning towards because he could train in crafting stories as well as knowing them), then what feats/skills/spells would anyone recomend for a Bard thusly orientated?

I would say that this character is most definitely a Bard. If he isn't a Bard then nobody is. There's no rule that says you can't have a moody Bard. As for feats and skills, it all depends on what you want him to be able to do, especially in combat, in relation to fighting and spells - which are what most feats and skills relate to.

Thanks Harbourboy, you've answered my question perfectly.
