[IMG] Well I was having fun with my new BG2 game, now that my holiday has started. I had many mods, and IA's new version so it was very fun for the two days.

Then a friend came and deleted some files from my Windows, so I had to reinstall Windows. My C:/ folder was formatted completely, but my BG2 installation was in D:/ folder so it was untouched.

But the game now did not recognise it was installed when I fixed up my Windows. So I re-installed the whole game to a new, seperate directory. I then copied all the files in my old, modded BG2 to new, fresh one, thinking it will do the same effect of installing all mods and my save games would be compatible.

It worked, my new installation worked, and my save games were OK. I was happy. I manually deleted my old BG2 installation.

But now the new installation did not work. It failed to start game, gave an error message that it could not find a data file with an odd number.

Why? I manually copied my new installation back to my old installation folder and it worked then!

So my new installation still uses a data file from my old installation to start the game? :hmm: Why and how? It just does not make sense to me. I now have TWO exactly same installations. Now it bugs me but since it is BG2 I will live with it. Especially my save games are still working and I am grateful for that!

Any solutions or ideas would be welcome. Thanks.

Did you per chance also copy your old baldur.ini file into the new folder?

If that is the case than you'll have to manually edit the links under the [Alias] section so that they match your new installation folder.

I know I have copied just about everything! So I guess this may be the root of the problem! I will try your solution ASAP. Thank you very much, friend!
