[IMG] Two days ago in Barcelona, a judge decided that is a crime to "say funny things about something on news using tapes"; basically says that you (the guy who puts the voice in off in the news) can't make a joke about the tape; few days back, a local tv news made like every monday a report about sunday's local football league, and like always is a serie of highlight from each game and the voice in off make some jokes about "funny situations" in those games; so in one of this images Beckam was about to shot a corner kick and the camera payed attention to a police woman who was "looking" at Becks more than the normal; the voice in off said something funny like the woman was "in love" with Becks; the thing is that the police sued the Channel for doing that, now, they have to pay 9000 Euros to the police woman because "difamation". After that, another judge said that is ilegal to carrie candles in religious manifestations because the wax falling to the streets.
A newspaper did a job about those "strange and ridiculous laws" and came up with this website where you can see some really strange laws.
For those american people around here, are those for real? Who make this kind of laws?
There is this new one I just read in the newspaper:
Montana: If 7 or more indians are together they are considered warriers and invaders so is allowed to shot at them.
Nevada: Is forbiden to drive a camel in a highway, they can't get the minimun speed.
Alaska: Is illegal to shot a bear but you can wake him up to take him a picture.
    :D

The joke was meant to be funny, but what the written text doesn't convey is the intonation of the speaker. And it could mean a lot, I think.

Well, I wouldn't take offence if I were that policewoman unless they had suggested she had been looking on his boxers. Then it would be different - especially if I were that policewoman's husband or boyfriend. I always hate it when people dare talk like that to or about my special girls and I have dumped girls for tolerating it.

I think there is a law in the UK that says women may not eat chocolate on a public bus. It does sound quite absurd, but I am pretty sure that it is true.

There's also that urban legend about it being legal to shoot a Welshman with a longbow in Anglesey, so long as it's Sunday and he's standing more than 12 yards away.

Sarevok is correct I think. Over here its pregnant women that are not allowed to eat chocolate on the bus, but its not exactly enforced.

Again I have a similar one to Magpie, over here its a Scotsman with either a crossbow or a longbow on a Saturday. The Scottish are well liked here (even during the 12th July!) so this is not going to happen, but I imagine the law would not be upheld anyway in this case.

@ Chevalier: the speaker is always doing the same kind of "report", every monday is the same: he makes some poetric talk about this or that situation: "the goalkeeper thinks he can fly but all he can grab is air" and bla bla bla, the policewoman thing was something like: "and here's Becks about to shot the corner kick and he doesn't realise that he has a fan right there, staring at him like she's in love of him"; not really a big deal, like much people say there are those shows that are all about "this star is pregnant, the other is in love to that star" here are called "pink shows", and there those "speakers" say things even much worse and nobody complains.
I think that nowadays everybody complains about everything.

Yeah, it doesn't sound rude. I wouldn't mind even if I were the policewoman's guy. Was asking just to make sure. ;)

Everybody is guessing that the boyfriend or husband of the copgirl watched the report and didn't make him laugh so when the poor girl went to her house this guy was so jealousy that the only thing that she could do was to sue the channel.

    That's quite reasonable. ;)

@Sydax: It's awful how stupid meaningless remarks can destroy a relationship. Even when they come from total strangers. I surely wouldn't be happy if they caught my wife or girlfriend staring on a guy, but come on... It's human to look and it's about what people think here, not about her really staring. Dang. I wish humans were more sensitive. I could be more sensitive myself, as well.

Another strange law that did not come into effect - Ireland wanted the Euro (accross the E.U.) *not* to be used for sex, e.g. legalizing prostitution, pornography etc.

Smuggling condoms into the Republic from the North was like smuggling hash!

Abortion is still illegal in North and South Ireland, but I am in 2 minds about this one - not a strange law to me, but it may be to someone from the Netherlands.

I don't think it's that strange, and I am from the Netherlands, its just that every case is different and here in the Netherlands there is still a grand debate about abortion. (Just the other day I saw on the news that Americans think we kill babies just for the fun of it, that's downright rediculous)
Marihuana is legal to smoke, own, sell, but you may not grow it.

O.K. No one is allowed to eat, drink or smoke on any form of public transport in Australia.

Yeah, the abortion debate is pretty heated here too.
