I was going through the pile of boxes that I have in the basement and it made me think about what things people keep. Everyone must have a few weird things that they keep around and just don't know why. I'm not talking about photos of x-girl/boy friends. More like pickled toes in a jar or hair-clippings from your neighbors dog - that sort of thing. My strange artifact would be a couple of mummified baby mice that I have kept for over 15 years. They stay inside a clear plastic film container that has a few grains of rice to keep the moisture out. I have them packed away in a box with my collection of occult books. I thought maybe they would fit with those items.

So, do any of you have anything weirder than that? If not, I'd still like to hear about the things you just can't throw away even though there may be no good reason to keep them.

I've got a cat's jaw bone that I found as a kid. I bleached it, and made it n to a necklace that I only wore a few times for shock value. I still have it packed away in a closet. :bad:
I can't think of anything besides that... :rolling:

Weirdest possession? That would have to be my desk decoration -- a scorpion encased in a solid glass ball.

I don't think it's weird to have a vicious looking (mildly)poisonous centipede encased in plastic. Desk decoration as well. I had to get it after seeing this

Mine's smaller though... :aww: ...a juvenile chinese redhead methinks, but I'm not too sure though...

I'm not one for excessive possessions. If I have something I don't use, I'll try to sell it. If I can't sell it, I'll chuck it. I don't see the point in items that don't serve me any practical use.

Wow, you guys are *weird*. Mummified mice?! wtf?! :p

I had a necklace made of fish fossil (allergedly); but it got broken in half. I have a small rock collection. The strangest I can think of at the moment is my teeth collection - I have each of my teeth that I've pulled out since childhood in a little container. It's really funny, because the ones from when I was two or so are absolutely tiny, while you have the ginormous ones from when I got two teeth pulled when I was about 15.

I'm sure I have weirder stuff still, but I can't think of any right now. Wait, does Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor count?! :D

    Tough question...

I collect oddities, I guess, and I have a hard time throwing things out, which results in my room looking like a storage.
"There's always room for one more thing"
I think that the weirdness of all that stuff together beats any individual part of it, so my room is probably my weirdest possesion.

Since we're picking individual objects, though: a broken crystall rose, quinine in a vial, a tiny silver spoon I was fed with as a baby, my first computer's internal organs, mummified, a Queen of Clubs without a deck, a chewed upon rubber toy dog (which I still carry around in my bag to the faculty), a smashed floppy discette...

DotW: I have a scorpion, too. Mine is in a wooden box with glass lid.

EDIT: Wait, I've found my candidate: a virus infected copy of The Incredible machine with a big caramel stain on it. It's in the "bored, need game fast" section of the shelf

Weeell, I have a few things that might be considered strange. Let's start with the rodent skulls I keep in my drawer. There's a vole, a mouse and a rat. All three were skinned by me, taking advantage of those brave animals who dared to try and outsmart the trap in the cupboard. The mouse is the best one.
I have quite a few keys of unknown origin and meaning, all found here and there. Few welding goggles (I don't weld), a little collection of preserved insects, some rather... unwholesome little glass sculptures and a gas mask right next to the computer

Hmmh, that's a good starter. Heh, I mentioned more than one, but I just couldn't figure out what was the strangest.

Jesus, did I just blunder into the Wasp Factory?
I don't think I have anything that weird...no animal heads or necklaces of human ears, I'm afraid. I'll have to go home and have look, but nothing springs to mind.

I would have to ask my wife, as she is quite frustrated by the fact that I have a hard time throwing stuff away. I can't think of anything on par with the insects and rodents, but I'll take a peek around my living quarters and let you all know.

I really don't hold on to stuff for keepsakes. Although I think I might have a certificate I received in grade 3 for the student with the most improved handwriting. Which may not seem too strange unless you were to see my handwriting now.

Hey, I have a collection of keys too. I HAD a collection of doorknobs as well but my husband made me get rid of it. Pffft. My key collection is in a big coffee tin and I do intend on making it into a work of art one day. Until that day, it doesn't get thrown in the trash.

    Interesting idea...

Really? Unusual - I know precious few gals who like scorpions... even dead ones. Do you happen to know which breed of scorpion it is? Mine's ironically a Black Asian - same breed than my youngest scorp.

Sadly, no. It's rather small and I got it from Tunisia.

As collections go, I have a huge cardbord box of paper napkins, plenty of postcards, nine years worth of Zabavnik (local magazine), some coins, comics, badges, minerals and sea shells...
Oh, and plenty of Kinder egg toys too.

A single unidentified key, rather wierd, probably from an old cupboard.

I had an unwiling collection of Barby dolls, since I used to get them for every imaginable occasion as a child. Thankfully, those days are over, although a pink jeep still rates high on my strangeness list...

[IMG] I like scorpions, and spiders

I used to have 'pet' ones in my last flat but we moved and I could hardly take them with me :(

Currently I have Bertha though, she's just a bit bigger than my hand, about 5" across from leg to leg and is currently residing behind my wardrobe. If I leave paperwork out I usually get a restless night

I would like to get a tarantula but my boyfriend is terrified of spiders :wail:

I used to collect empty ink cartridges when I was in grammar school, my mother made me get rid of them understandably :xx:

[IMG] Behe was a moth :hmm: it died and my friends parents got rid of it.
