A lot of people play this mod, and I'm currently struggling through it. But I've found some good strategies for Yaga-Shura, Demogorgon and Abazigal. Let me know your tried-n-true strategies. (BTW, I'm playing Hard)

Yaga-Shura - I found this battle really hard before I tried this. As soon as Yaga-Shura and his troupe show up, I immediately cast Maze on him (may or may not require Time Stop first) so he can't throw his lava bomb at me. His intelligence is abismal, so he'll be there for a looong time. Time enough for you to take out his Lieutenants with ease.

Demogorgan - I found this fight the hardest of all. Magic is useless against him (I think he's immune to all spells, but I'm not sure), but his demons aren't so impervious. What worked for me is I positioned Cernd, Imoen and Sarevok on one side of the area, and the rest of my party on the other side (me as a f/m, Keldorn, Anomen). I summon a Prince and a Deva before he sees me, so his beasties will be distracted. I then run in there with my fighters and GW his ass. I'll throw a Greater Malison/Chaos in there too do distract some of the demons.

Abazigal - I Maze (time stop, lower resistance) Abazigal in his fighter form, then kill as many Drakes as I can before he comes back (he's got high intelligence, so it’s not long). I then concentrate on Tamah, whom I use a Spell Trigger with 3 Lower Magic Resistance spells, Creeping Doom, and Power Word: Blind and Breach. Hopefully, Tamah will be toast before Abazigal comes back, but it’s not too critical since he’s fairly susceptible to Confusion. I then wait before attacking him, and heal all my characters and summon more allies. After he turns into a Dragon, I can put Keldorn and my f/m toe to toe with the Cloaks of Mirroring and Reflection. After he casts Lower Elec. Res. I can put Sarevok in the fray, protected from Lighting because Abazigals chain lightning can do up to 200 damage.

What worked for me in the improved Yaga Shura battle was killing the army first(while on the bridge) and then entering the camp to confront him. I also had Viconia cast protection from fire on everyone to avoid that lava bomb thing.

But it also throws you back and stuns you a little, so it's still annoying.

The best way to handle the Fire Bomb is to split up so only one of you gets hit with it. As soon as it's out of the way, close in on Yaga Shura and go at him with Greater Whirlwind Attacks until he's dead.

What about harder fights like, Improved Sendai? I know it's not an original improved battles mod and is part of oversight but I play on insane always, and I can honestly say I find Sendai to be harder then the Ascension fight against the five(I'm just greatful the Abazigal isn't a Dragon there :aaa: .

I've not fought the improved Sendai yet - I have enough problems with the normal version!

Then again, Sendai is one of those TOB fights that I've never liked. Quite often I'm able to get her down to the last couple of statues and then she'll kill my PC outright with a critical or a spell and I'll have to run through the whole thing again. It's a pity there's no way to save the game after you kill each statue because getting down to the last couple then having to restart because of one error is really tedious.

As a matter of fact David in the normal Sendai fight you get at least two chances to save before the real one the first comes early, and the next one that I know of comes about 2-3 statues away, and you can always use summons to draw the statue away fro the parties sight if they are all bunched in the enterance, and pocket plane, so you can just bide your time and get ready to surround her when she appears in the middle.

When you learn a couple of tricks in the ToB fights most of them are quite easy really, which annoys me about the un-modded fights - not so in the improved fights mod.

I've never been able to pocket plane during the fight. The game always tells me it's not an ability I can use during combat.

You can save in the Sendai fight as long as no PC/NPC can see any enemies. Use a good summons to get all the enemies on one side of the screen, then PC & NPCs head to the other side, then save once you can't see any red circles in the fog of war.

Havn't got the chance to try the Improved Sendai/Oversight mod, but I will eventually.

The Yaga-Shura fight is easy if you use Maze on him, because then your not being constantly beat by him, his lava bomb doesn't go off, and you can kill his Lieutenants and army before he comes back.

BTW, has anyone beaten Improved Illasera with a newly created ToB char with low XP and crap items? I tried with a fighter/mage and killed her, but her goons got me in the end.

I once tried improved Ilasera with a newly created character but after half a dozen attempts which ended in me getting well and truly slaughtered I just gave up.
