[IMG] Do any of the originally set sttributes for the character go up throughout the game. Like I gave my mage 3 strength out of stupidity and now he can't carry his own weight. How can this be fixed; I want him to at least have like 5 strength.

Please help, anything would be appreciated!

I would suggest using Shadowkeeper as a last resort. You can attain a Girdle of Hill Giant Strength from Ribald Barteman at the Adventurer's Mart. It gives the wearer automatic 19 strength. Not only will he be able to lift his items, he will now make a significant sling/melee combatant.

  4. Yeah, there's a good idea - let's put a mage out in the frontline.

Don't waste a girdle on a mage. Just edit him instead.

I didn't necessarily say front line, you can also use a sling. With a Sling of Seeking, you can stay in the back and with bullets +2 deal 1d4+3+2+7 damage per hit. Thats 13-16 damage from a mage @ +2+2+3+missile adj. to hit on every shot. 13-16dmg @ +7-11 to hit. I believe that is more than acceptable.

And "wasting" a girdle? Most fighters have a +2/+5 or +2/+4 so the girdle only increases their fighting abilities about +1/+2. Wow. Talk about wasting a girdle...

[IMG] I agree, placing a girdle on a mage isn't wasting. All my characters had strength 18 or more by the middle of the game. All my mages had girdles or weapons that added to thier strength and I could beat most charcaters using close range weapons only.
Well worth buffing up a mage's strength.

Slings use strength modifiers? Since when? Unless of course this is another fine "change" by Bioware to the AD&D rules.

Only the Sling of Seeking. Jaheira once did 40 damage on a critical hit with it and a strength enhancing girdle.

    pleeze don't cheat

i have had enough of people going on about it now!

you were pretty stoopid to give your mage that low strength

go with the girdle idea... there is an Ogre Power 18/00 strength which will be better than using a Hill Giant one...

a mage with a sling can be good... i like slings... MUCH BETTER than Darts and Throwing Daggers anywayz!

Yes, I detest the changes Bioware made to D&D as well, but , as pointed out above, this is solely for the Sling of Seeking. It is a +2 sling that allows you to use your strength mods. The most I've ever done is with the Girdle of Frost Giant Strength, where I did 36 dmg on a critical hit. Unfortunately, it was while killing Nalia. (eh, I kicked the dumb wench out of my party after getting Imoen back, and as she was leaving she walked through a patch of still-going cloudkill. She turned red and came after me.)

[IMG] Amon-Ra you earn the slowest of deaths for that. Nalia is a really nice kid (the girl even helped me fight AFTER I dumped her at spellhold). She deserves better than such lowly treatment.
You might have wasted a charm spell or the like of it on her.
Should we ever meet in Faerun be prepared!

Amnon-Ra it looks as if you spot the same Sling that I always pick up. The Sling of Seeking is incredible... of course I trade it in whenever I can afford the +5 Sling in CC. Also there is another awesome sling that I use found in the Underdark/Beholder caverns. I end up with these slings because I dont' have to haul ammo.

Additionally the 'advice' is wise regarding the suggestion not to use 'Shadowkeeper'. There are alternatives, the girdle of hill giant strength, potions and guantlets of ogre power. If you're mage is dualed to a class that can handle a mace then you can get the 'Mauler' which gives 18 Str. It's in the CC as well if I recall correctly.

Cheats rob you of your gaming experience -especially if it is your first time thru the game. Perhaps if your on your 3rd game or so... even I can't see a problem with that (I have an 'attitude' when it comes to cheats) :) But the choice is as it was in the beginning -yours to make.
