    hi guys
i made a new party today and decided that my arcane caster should be a transmuter BECAUSE in the char-creation zone it is said that opposite school would be BANNING magic ONLY ... ingame i found out at the end of the prolog (where i picked up some spellscroll-loot) that also opposing is necromancy.
now THAT is a huge disadvantage ! i will miss FoD and summon undead ! and horrid whilting andandand... all the great spells :( .
what i want to know is : does an editor for iwd2 exist ? i simply don't want to restart just because i was betrayed by game at the charcreation. i want to transmute my transmuter (hehe) into plain wizzy.
help me with links or hints. thx

(Bloodtitan, this little rant of mine is in no way a criticism of your post.) :)

A pet peeve of mine is the translation of games from english into *whatever* language. If a game is originally made in english, just keep it english.

I assume you mean Abjuration ("BANNING"), but since your game is (presumably) in german you're forced to try and re-translate the term back into english. That's never a good thing.

Oh, btw, the Game Manual is wrong - never trust a game manual  - but the information you get in-game when you create the character is correct... at least in my game, but then my game is in english. :heh:

    From another thread here :
"I assure you that by giving the wizard 1 level of sorcerer his Wizard Spell Book will be able to accept, write, scribe, and use All of the schools.
He will no longer have any opposition school.
And I don't mean have equal levels for sorcerer
and wizard, I mean only 1 level of sorcerer. It works, I've done it."
Don't know who wrote it. Hope it helps.

I said that, and it does work. However, if you want to edit the Transmuter, to Necromancer, if you download DaleKeeper2 which has a link to it on Sorcerers Place, you can edit the characters, "Kit" from Transmuter to Necromancer.

But, I would not worry about it too much, because there is something in the game later on that Transmuters like...

Yep Khazraj is right. Adding a sorcerer level does work, tried it myself :)

Indeed, the german version of the game usually has some serious translation flaws, not to mention the silly soundsets, reason enough for me to get NWN and IWD-2 in the originals - after all the bad experience with german language BG, BG-2 and IWD.

Insofar, Bloodtitan, I can only recommend to play the english version !!!

hm early grey if i hadn't been so much in rage i would know that ... played bg1+2 and torment in english *g* ... i played iwd in german and there it is : abschwörung which is correct translation of abjuration ... but i don't have any knowledge on d&d3 or what the new school names would be ... of course a poor excuse but i just hadn't seen the new german name before and failed to associate

    now to the sorcerer-plan :
my first xp with d&d3 was nwn ... and i experienced dual or triple class chars to be lousy. thats the same thought that teekc had about the bard : jack of all, master of none.
now, i know i will be spammed with good examples of powergaming but i still believe : if you are a veteran of all the d&d games u know what to choose to create a good party and don't need these aftermath corrections.

and to silence all the flamers : i finished iwd + bg1 + bg2 with just a halfelf fighter-mage-thief ... yes i was a fan of multis in ad&d but not now with this huge skillsystem.

so long and don't try to convince me ;) would be useless

to experiment means to advance the scientist would say ...
plain sorcerer is good i think i am able to pick out the best spells without mistakes. he was my arcane caster in my first party. now plain wizzy ... boring. my intention for 2. party was to choose some of the unusual chars.

    i got : barbarian/halforc + monk/deep gnome + rogue/tiefling (<- no way! you need one) + ranger/halfelf + druid/aasimar + necro/drow.

i think all these are minor good ... ranger is really neat compared to archer from bg2.

    first party was : pala/aasimar + fighter/shielddwarf + lathandercleric/drow + rogue/stronghearthalfling + bard/human + sorcerer/wildelf

hm and if i seem aggressive to you i apologize but i had tons of argueing about the new multiclass system and did not want to discuss it

yeah, there are some misprints in the manual. Or even "no-prints". Like in my manual, there's nothing about wizards gaining an extra feat at every 5 levels (simlar to warriors), and the other specialist wizard class that has a mis-print would be enchanter. Their opposing class is not necromancy only, but evocation as well.

Anyway, I started the game again with new characters. My wizard is now an illusionist. pretty cool, can do away with necro-magic anyway since I would much prefer burning/freezing/dissolve/electrocute my enemies alive.

ugh necromancy is the only school i don't want to miss in iwd2 ... think about the apocalyptic bonemonsters in jaspers embassy - nearly invincible warmachines charging your foes and your necro following and casting abidalzims over and over again ...

they took away apocalyptic boneguards in v2.01. the best you can get is boneguard (in white). but still animate undead + horrid wilting + suffocate is very powerful. i use this combination a lot the first time. now i found out that animate undead + malision + wail of banshee + tremor even better. my fighters has been degraded to axe and war hammer thrower lately.
