This thread was originally about a perceived glitch in Edwin's walk but the more serious problem is the pronounced stuttering in Firkraag's Dungeon.

It's shocking, move, then freeze for a sec, repeat. I've uninstalled and reinstalled both with and without mods and the problem is still there.

It may be the savegame but I've never had this problem before.

    Any suggestions?

[IMG] I think that the patch is supposed to fix a problem with the movement. Though that may be when they 'stutter' and keep stopping. Try the patch - if it doesn't fix your problem then maybe it's a conflict in mods. Do you have any installed?

Many. You're probably right but I'll try the patch. Thanks.

    <EDIT>
I just re-installed BG2 and am still having the problem.

The patch does not appears to fix it. Even the time 'pendulum' down the bottom stops for a second every few swings.

I'm in Firkraag's Dungeon at the moment and haven't had this problem anywhere else.

    Which mods?

Have you tried installing the SP Fixpack?

Yes, but not with your setup. As this was originally in the SoA forum, I assumed that you did not have ToB installed.

One or two of those mods may not be compatible.

I did ask for this to be moved and also noticed that the fixpack was for SoA only.

Thanks for your help anyway. The slowdown problem doesn't seem to happen outside of Firkraag's Dungeon but the Edwin thing is still there.

If it annoys me too much I'll just boot him from the party!

I dont think it is a glitch. This hovering of his happened to my Edwin every single time, patchs/mods or no. Seems like a deliberate change. After dabbling with ancient magics (Nether Scroll) he got elevated to a 'higher' state as a mage. Hence his gliding. Just like he no longer needs to wave his hands to cast a spell.

Actually, I think it looks cool. The only reason I sometimes choose him over Aerie.

I honestly never noticed the hand waving thing. I just assumed the floating was a glitch as he walks a little and then glides.

Interesting take on that. I wonder if that's the truth.

Stuttering happens a lot with multiple romance mods. Have you got one of those installed? Usually it's with your love interests. My recollection is that it's a scripting conflict. Maybe something like that is happening with Edwin? And just on the chance it's a video problem, what kind of video card do you have, and are your running any 3D stuff in your DirectX?

    Nope, no multiple romances.

I have started a new game with that character imported and it runs just fine, even in Firkraag's dungeon.

No idea what happened in that other save. :(

    I'm running a Nvidia GeForce 4 MX 440
