[IMG] I just wanted to pass along a bit of news...

Welverin Despana has been working on a Subrace mod for some time now, and though it is still in beta, it is shaping up nicely. Basically, it allows you to choose a subrace for your PC, adding to the overall personality of your character. Your PC will receive the advantages AND disadvantages of the different subraces. It's definitely worth checking out.

The mod can be downloaded here: http://members.fortunecity.com/welverin/subrace.exe
and the forum is located here: http://chosenofmystra.db-forge.com/mystra_forum/viewtopic.php?t=325&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

The author or whoever can send me a PM or mail when it's complete and I'll put a link to in our mods subsection on SP.

@Taluntain: Thank you for the offer...I'll pass the word along to Welverin, as I'm sure he'll be grateful for any assistance :)

@Duke Eltan: Yes, the mod will work with either SoA alone or with ToB. It does not *require* ToB

So I installed it and got it to work... somewhat anyways. Made a drow first, got 50% MR but that was all. No bonuses/setbacks to stats to any subrace and no extra MR as I leveled up with the drow. Anyone else have these problems?

I won't install it until it's finished. However, while the description of what each race was like was very good, I didn't see any listing of what special abilities each of the races had. For example, aside from attitude, is there any difference between playing a Gold Elf or a Forest (Wild) Elf?

The distinctions are very good from a role-playing perspective, but as far as how they will work in BGII, I don't see the difference. There is virtually nothing that changes in BGII that you can or can't roleplay due to your race, so if each sub-race doesn't have specific abilities, I don't know how applicable it will be to the game.

It seems to be a lot of work than we had thought (about the specific race interactive - like in the Drow city if you are a drow, etc). I think this will be either a very cool mod or a horrible one

But if it works properly, it going to be a must-have mod!

Half-orc subraces would be nice, too. I'm sure there are different breeds of Orc, aren't there? I've seen green, grey and black skinned Orcs portrayed in various artwork so I'm assuming there are different subraces. That would be cool.

[IMG] Aldeth, Wood Elves and Wild Elves are different subspecies. :)
