I've just started seeing this girl who has a hard time understanding movies in English so I have to start downloading subtitles in Mandarin.

I did a search and this link came up top:

    http://www.divxtitles.com/allmovies/Mandarin/any/1

I just wanted to ask if these divx subtitles will work for any movie file that will run with VLC? Also, for the benefit of the computard (myself), how do they work? Do I just download the file then copy the folder into the folder with the movie and then automatically i have a "subtitle option"?

Thanks in advance for the help.

If you are running VLC player, put the .srt file and the .avi/whatever file in the same place (so it is easier to locate the files). Then play the movie. Pause, go up to 'video' -> subtitles track -> load file, then select the .srt file, and voila!

Sometimes they may require syncing, in which case you would go to tools->extended settings -> synchronization, and then play around with those three options.
