[IMG] I'm about to start installing mod to my next BG2 campaign, and I thought about aforementioned mod. Is it worth installing or does it "corrupt" the game too much? I need some advice :)

Depends...do you want every fight to take you a day or so before you figure it out? If yes...then go for it! :thumb:

Oh and don't install Improved Irenicus and Improved Ilyich...those are just complete bull****. The only time I every actually DID those things was for my Wild Mage/Cleric run of BG2...the whole point of that was to finish the game solo with a crazy crazy crazy class... :D

    @ Shaitan

As Faraaz said these 2 are probably the hardest components of Tactics.
But don't worry everything is doable (since there is that reload-button :D ).There are strategies for these battles,so if you have any problems just ask ;)

Shaitan, please, you will enjoy the mod; get Ascension and Improved Battles too! They change the game radically, but for the better! I love them sooo much that a game without them seems so empty and dull.

Ah yes Improved Ilych is fun; but I was very suprised at first; I thought I could never defeat them; but now I have the startegies and experience, I beat them all in my current game with little trouble! Have cool screen shots too, the one in which pure and innocent Immy scores a critical hit and blasts Zhivago in to tiny pieces of meat, it is soo funny and priceless! 'Got ya good!' Zhivago is blasted! :D BTW, Zhivago is an epic level cleric (who tends to summon Fallen Devas here and there) with undroppable +2 full plate mail, and an AC so high nobody can hit him except lucky criticals. Well I was lucky indeed! :shake: So fun!

Ah and if you are ever troubled or stuck, ask and I, thetruth, and Faraaz will do our best to help ya!

Yeah...except I will not be able to help you with Improved Ilyich...I just boycott the sucker.

    ANYWAY...welcome to the club!! :D

I'm sorry guys! I used my clean backup and instead I tried Victor's mod instead. It filled the Irenicus' dungeon with umber hulks and wizards. But still I think it was a bit overwhelming :p

But you still have other parts of Tactics eh? Please, you will have immense fun when you meet a slightly smarter mage or lich. I can guarantee that!

Yes - many! I like ie. improved druid grove.

    I allways nerf my stoneskin/ironskin ;)

I like mods, wich add to re-playbility. Or makes ie liches behave more logical - or how you put it. I don't necessary like enhancing creatures via giving them cheats, but small improvements is fun. I'm trying Improved Anvil for the moment, but due to much work and my girlfriends exams at the moment my gaming time is at a minimum. :nolike:

If monsters and NPCs cheat you end up having to use cheesy tacks...
To make the game more interesting IMHO it is better to avoid certain items (scrolls of protection, cloak of cheese and shield of B come to mind) and exploits (fog of war, traps for non aggressive foes, buffing because you know there is a lich next door to name but a few).
I do this too, these spells are way too powerful!
I also treat summoning spells with circumspection.
Playing with Tactics can be a frustrating experience, powergaming is not the only answer. ;)

Nerfing stone/ironskins means they have a duration of 4 rounds? Ah this sucks. I tend to obey AD&D rules as best as I can. :shake: (can you believe it?)

It tends to get pretty bland if you just keep nerfing everything that gives you an edge. In fact, I have seen it kill off a previously good (online) game.

Tactics is pretty much for those who don't mind cheating opponents and/or have already done everything there is to be done. Generally speaking: it's for bored powergamers.

Bored powergamers? I was neither broed nor powergamer when I first installed tactics. And I liked it. Now I may be a powergamer but not bored, no sir.

@Shaitan: I used to be in your boat, until I discovered how PAINFUL it is to solo a lvl 8 cleric who doesn't have that nifty Boon of Lathander ability... :p

Aerial Servant saved my game for me as soon as I got lvl 6 spells.

Note of course, that you have to separate the grain from the chaff...with chaff here being the ENTIRE Monster Summoning X spells, Animal Summoning X spells and Elemental Summoning spells...

    IMO only worthwhile summons are:

    Animate Dead
    Aerial Servant
    Mordenkainen's Sword
    Summon Planetar

(Summon Deva sucks...completely underpowered for the level of spell...)
