Three Kingdoms Era As a 2.5D JRPG In Tales of Three Kingdoms: The Mortal World - Overview

I admit that I'm not well-versed in the historical period of China's Three Kingdoms, which spans from 220 to 280 AD and inspired many works of literature and art. This era is often associated with the famous Romance of the Three Kingdoms strategy videogames, which I've always found challenging to get into-perhaps due to their complexity or maybe because I never quite managed to get fully invested in them.

However, there's a new project that might change that: an intriguing indie title developed by Softstar Entertainment called Tales of Three Kingdoms: The Mortal World. This upcoming 2.5D turn-based RPG transports players to the turbulent era of China's Three Kingdoms, focusing on the life of Dou Fu, a character trying to keep a low profile amidst the chaos. His quiet life takes a sudden turn when he meets a "Princess" from the Han Dynasty, leading him into a series of events that drive the game's narrative.

While we're used to strategy games set in the Three Kingdoms era, The Mortal World offers a different experience, immersing us in a JRPG-style adventure, complete with exploration and a combat system that will resonate with fans of the genre.

The game emphasizes player choice, offering multiple endings based on the decisions made throughout the journey. The combat system features a Combo mechanic, allowing players to chain together different character skills in a single, powerful move. Additionally, it includes a Generals recruitment system, where players can enlist legendary heroes from the Three Kingdoms period to form their optimal team.
